Feeling around under the dash of my pickup today I found sponge that is dripping wet and I'm worried about what it is?? Anyone else has this before??

windscreen is leaking, it's really common on these cars, next you'll be telling us the fusebox is full up with water

No that is dry but thanks for worrying me more......what sort of cost will it be to reseal the screen and how do I dry the "sponge"??

This stuff seemed to work for me for sealing the windscreen...but it needed a couple of applications.

Once no more water is coming in the sponge will dry out eventually of its own accord, but you can squeeze it with a basin beneath to remove some of the water.

On the parts car, the sponge under the steering column was wet with something oily. I put it down to the headlamp adjuster hydraulics leaking.

If it's oily under the steering column that will be gearbox oil, when the gearbox breather gets blocked the oil forces it's way up the speedo cable and it drips down from the back go the instrument cluster.

Aha, that makes sense, the breather did need clearing out.

 

At least the speedo cable won't seize
