replacement tyres Fabia 2 VRS

Featured Replies

Wow....I thought there may be a better concensus. Seems like OP may need to get one specimen of each recommendation !

Might be easier to say what tyres to stay away from....and why !

That way the rest are ok--> good.

Cheers

dont think I have ever heard a bad thing about PS3's.....

and the fabia II vRS is SO sensitive to tyres... really it changes the way the car behaves more than anything else I think!

Likewise.

It is just the price at something like £130 quid per tyre but Openeo an do them for about £95 if you can wait a week to get hold of.

thanks for posting up the oponeo site :) federal RSR's are only £103 on there! :)

Cheapest place I found in Europe.

Prices do vary by a quid or two up and down and delivery is free and fairly quick even though tyres come from Germany or Poland usually.

I got really lucky "mid-winter" and got 2 RSR's for £72 each from mytyres :) up at £113 now I think! camskill are £106.....

I've just had the rainsport 3 put on my vrs, £85 each from Malvern tyres will let u know how I get on with them when ran in a bit.

Was told at by the guy who fitted them they are hard get hold of at the min and uniroyal can't keep up with demand at the min.

2 & 3 years ago ever Tyre Dealer said that about Winter Tyres of Different Brands.

Michelin Moved Production and increased it.

Last years winter they hardly sold any extra, and this winter will not have helped.

Wet Winter and Wet Weather tyres selling like hot cakes seems like a no brainer.

Does anyone know of a stockist with a Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 in stock?  Everywhere so far seems to be quoting 6 to 8 weeks and I really need just one to replace the virtually new one that is now unusable after an encounter with a pothole (it's got a big bulge in the sidewall)

Try the Efficient Grips, just as good but should be slightly cheaper.

I'm not worried about cost for a single tyre.  I will not under any circumstance run different tyres on the same axle and I'm not keen on running different tyres full stop even on axle pairs.

In this case I'm willing to run with under 0.5mm of difference in tread depth providing the tyre is the same.  I'm really trying to avoid having to buy a full set of 4 new premium tyres at a cost of around £500. So unless I can find the GY Assym 2 then I'm not sure what route to take.

Ahh I see, ATS used to always keep Asymmetric 2's or be able to get them. If you shared your location it may help others who may be nearby to you.

Oops, my bad. Location updated.

ATS only list 45 profile on a 17 rim these days (as do a lot of the other suppliers). I really hope Goodyear have just had a bit of production glitch as I don't want to be stumping up for 4 new tyres right now.

think I will go for the Kuhno 39s or the new Nexen N'Fera.both good specs but cheapish.

Based on my experience of "High Performance" Kumhos on my other vehicle I'd avoid them like the plague. #justsaying

And back to Mich PS3s again.

If I can get them for £94 each delivered I should not complain I suppose.

I had decided on Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2's to replace my Continentals but there appears to be no stock in the country at the moment for these in the 205 40 R17 size. Apparently they won't be available until sometime in March and I don't really want the Efficient Grips. I was looking at around £100 each fitted price from the best quote from local tyre fitters.

The Vredestein Ultrac Cento's suggested in this thread have good reviews and appeal for their low noise and low price (£69 each) but the fact they are directional puts me off. I like to be able to swap wheels from side to side, particularly if any slight pull to the left is detected.

Will now either wait a couple of weeks to see if I can get the Goodyears (winter tyres are still on the car) or go with the Michelin PS3s at £94 each delivered.
