Jinxed?

Well as some of you may know i have posted before telling of my completely irritating Fabia vrs and all the squeaks and rattles it makes.Well on wednesday morning on my way to work an Argos delivery lorry pulled out in front of me and then stopped in the middle of the road.I was doing approx 70mph and i was only about 200-300 yards from him so hit the brakes, swerved and then smacked the kerb on the other side of the road ruining my drivers side alloys.Thank god i just managed to avoid him.No damage to bodywork which was a miracle.I got quite a fright and was a bit shaken.By the time i got out my car which had skidded about 200 yards past the opening he was gone.Typical.Anyway its took me until today to cool down  .This brings me to another question.Im getting new alloys cos the vrs ones are ruined.Im getting audi rs4 alloys fitted on monday cos my dealer wanted

If you read the Skoda warranty, you will find that *any* modifications to the vehicle will invalidate your warranty. However, most dealers seem to take the view that they will still cover the remaining standard Skoda parts, assuming they're not linked to the modified part, in the event of a failure. Best to have a chat with your local dealer to find out their stance :D

Chris

On a plus point if the remainder of your wheels are ok then you may also recover some costs by sellling them.

Thanks chris. The problem i have is i dont want to drive my Fabia with the knackered wheels for much longer as there was rubber hanging off the tyres and everything.I just dont feel confident with them. Also i have already ordered the rs4 wheels to be fitted on Monday so im kind of tied to the deal but as yet havent approached my dealer about it because im fed up with them anyway after the rattling noises issue.I will probably phone them today.Surely it doesnt matter what wheels you have as long as the are fitted by professionals and fit the car without having to roll arches etc as you arent really tampering with anything on the car? Thanks again.

Unfortunately the passenger side ones are kerbed as well after a similar incident last crimbo. The car was only a month old and a lorry with a skip on the back driving like it was an f1 car forced me into the kerb.Reported it straight to police with reg no. of lorry and company etc.Outcome....

Policeman said i should have let the guy hit me and he would have been done.As it was because he didnt actually hit me i was the only car involved in the accident and hence nothing they could do.Sob sob.You bad man you brought back bad memories.Hehehe.Im going out to the punchbag in the garage now.

Thats really bad luck but your ok parts can be repaired, on a slightly different note only had my VRS a couple of days why is everyone trying to out run me even in clapped out escorts?

By the time i got out my car which had skidded about 200 yards past the opening he was gone.

Skidded? ABS?

I'm glad my upcumming Combi 1,9 TDI has ESP and Brake Assistant

Skidded? ABS?

there is a limit to any system - they cannot defy physics - the system simply stops the wheel from locking , if the is no grip then even abs cannot do anything :(

It sounds like it would be prudent to get the suspension alignment checked asap.

If there is sliding, there is no grip - e.g. on ice or oil, or in aquaplaning. If there is skidding, there is grip. The noise will indicate the difference.

You dislike your vRS purely because of some interior build quality issues?
