Android Google apps,,,,,,,,,,,,

Featured Replies

Any way to totally obliterate the extraneous unused useless apps completely? ie Newsstand, G+, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Books, Store, Talk, News & Weather?

Been into settings but I can only uninstall the updates, not the whole app which are taking up disc space.

Thanks in advance :)

Pleased to hear all ok for the moment, if all else fails and the water rises chuck in some whisky and drink it

The only way is to root.

Just be careful as some are interlinked and may cause issues with other apps.  Some cant be installed directly from play if they came installed.

No but some apps like banking, SKY etc wont work on rooted devices.

phone has three or four purposes to me; talking, texting, camera and three or four websites.

What phone is it Lee?

Remember to not redownload OTA updates once rooted otherwise you'll have to reroute again anyway.

Ben, you at the hut tomorrow? Its a G-Ti,,,,,,,,,,,,Ace 2. Runs like an SDi tbh :(

Just make a folder and chuck the icons you don't use in there.

Thats if you don't want to root it of course

Yup definitely. :)

You might not notice a major increase in speed rooting the device, you could get a custom ROM and perhaps overclock the processor, but you'd need a custom kernel for that.

Will Google Maps still work properly or will you keep getting re-routed

I always root my phones. Not because I'm bothered about overclocking or anything but just to be able to remove annoying system apps, install an adblocker and a couple of tweaks here and there.

A tip for if you do root though and want to uninstall the apps. Use a root file explorer, cut and paste the unwanted apk's into a folder on your SD card then reboot. The apps will be gone but you still have a backup incase you ever need them again.
