95 1.3 felicia will tick over but not run

Featured Replies

Hi everyone im new to this site but was hoping you would be able to help me, I've got a 95 Felicia 1.3 that I've had for a just over a year now when the other day I filled up at the garage and afterwards got about 30 yards down the road and the car died! (I did put the right fuel in!) After trying to start it for about 5 minuets I got it to tick over fine but as soon as you touch the accelerator it dies. (I had been using the car that morning and it was fine). I called my breakdown and they sent someone out after looking at it and trying a few things he came to the conclusion that it was some sort of blockage or fault with the fuel line/system. So he took my car to the garage and that's where its been all week but after trying several things (hooked up to diagnostics machine witch says there's nothing wrong.Cam shaft sensor changed-changed throttle housing-checked fuel system, pump e.g..-checked ignition system-checked battery)they have given up and im not sure what to do now apart from get another car which I don't want to do as I like my car and want to keep it. If anyone has any ides I would be really grateful many thanks ben.

I learned from my mentor that a car needs the following to run

- fuel (in the right amount)

- spark (as strong as possible)

- air flow (no intake obstruction, no exhaust blockage, no vacuum leaks)

- timing (very precise)

- compression (as high as possible and equal on all cylinders)

* immobilizer ok where fitted

if the workshop says all are good but your car doesn't start

you have to ask other old school mechanic.

if he's good, he'll tell you what's wrong using a vacuum gauge while cranking.

if everything is ok yet car doesn't run, last solution is to change the computer.

Did you run it low on fuel has the fuel filter been changed does the fuel pump pump when ignition on
