Now my dash cam is hard wired (ish, I could still yank the power going in to the device or whip the SD card out), I thought about whether I should tell the insurance company to try and reduce my premium. So, have you? Did it make any dent on your premium?

Isn't there only one insurer that offers a discount?

I called them, with the approved dashcam and got a discount of...nothing on my quote.

The cams in both cars are declared, incase they either get broken into for them or they catch fire overnight.

Mine still has the cigarette lighter plug on it so I've treated it the same as I would a satnav i.e. it's not a permenant fixture so haven't told them. I fitted a auxilary socket following Fubars fitting thread so can take it out easily if I want to.

Ahhh the irony...

Someone breaking into a car to steal a security camera...

Hi,

Just to let you know that we have a number of schemes that give discounts for a range of in car cameras.

All well and good, but when I renewed last May and said I had front and rear facing HD blackvue cameras, for some reason they weren't on your list and I got no benefit at all (well, apart from the fact they could prove to be very useful in the event of a claim, and save you guys a lot of hassle and money ;))

Looking forward to my renewal this May and hoping your list of cameras is updated. ;)

All our company vehicles have them because the insurance company insisted on them, they have been very useful to us too.
