Read today that we might be rid of Bernie too...replaced by Christian Horner due to allegedly dodgy goings on in Germany.

  • Not completely sold on the nose regs for this year either, but some interesting designs came out however can't say Im sold on the ones that are just blatantly appendages (eg TorroRosso or ForceIndia).

What a mental race! On the edge of my seat the whole time fantastic. Hamilton from pit lane to 3rd, Alonso done a great job and I think my driver of the day has to be Ricciardo, just massively impre

Not sure what the best looking car is at the moment.

Thinking likely the McLaren isn't hideous and the Ferrari isn't bad. That Marussia above looks good to me, mostly as it isn't infected with Pinnochio's nose.

A lot of people are whinging about the noses, but on the whole (ie. apart from the Caterham) I prefer these lower noses to the stupid high stepped noses we had before.

Yes but that's like saying you'd rather step in cat **** than dog ****, they both stink!

The noses of last years cars were ugly and this year they're different but still ugly. Why can't the rules say they've got to pass some aesthetic regulation where form takes precedent over function?

Ability to download specific sessions into Outlook etc - with or without an update facility

I've got qualifying and race in my calendar.

Handy, cheers. Added all sessions to my google one, but doubt I'll forget

Red Bull still struggling, I wonder if the head corporates at Red Bull will suddenly be supportive of Ecclestone's "double points at the last three races" idea? ;)

It's shaping up to be a fantastic season!

Is any of the practice sessions televised this year?

Same as last year for practice on a race weekend. Televised by BBC when they are doing that weekend, televised by sky every weekend.

If you mean the testing then no. But the testing never has been!

Sky does a 15minute round-up of each day at 9pm. They had a Ted's Notebook on each day during Jerez, but apparently not during this one sadly.

Sorry I did mean testing...I seemed to remember about sky covering some last season. Will checkout the 9pm shows, cheers Iann

If you point a spare browser tab at the BBC feed, it'll update every few minutes until end of day. Ok, it's text rather than video, but "who's doing race distances" and "who's still brewing up on out laps" is way more important than odd tenths on FTD.

The #askcrofty from yesterday was pants! Ted's notebook was much more interesting!

I can't stand Crofty. On commentary he's abysmal.

Day 8 out of 12 of pre-season testing today and the best Renault-engined lap so far has been 3s off the pace. The Renault teams seem to be struggling for reliability too, especially Red Bull.

Also found this, courtesy of the F1technical.net forum members. Bahrain time/distance round up:

Red Bull really struggling for mileage vs the Mercedes powered teams. Reported that Merc were running lighter than others and doing quali sims for their fastest times, but still looking promising for them (IMO) in the reliability stakes. Do remember though times aren't gospel at this stage.

Those new engines sound interesting but it all seems pretty quiet ... I don't know if those new engines genuinely are so much quieter than the outgoing ones or if the people making the videos had the input gain turned right down?

No they are quieter for sure, you can make phone calls and hold interviews trackside with ease now.

Turbos eat up a LOT of noise!

They seem practically silent running into the corners, too.

Almost sounds like they're bogged down doesn't Oli!
