Hankooks any good on Fabia?

Featured Replies

Hey up all,

Need to replace all four tyres on the mrs' vRS and looking at some Hankook K110 Ventus V12 Evo's. They seem to have good reviews online the only thing i've seen mentioned a couple of times is the sidealls seem a little soft but not sure how true that is as they are the 87's required.

Anyone have any experience with them on a fabia... especially a vRS.

And i'm a little past the driving like a c**k stage so i want to know how they'll perform when driven normally not in excess... They'll be used about 70% motorway.

Cheers

Dave.

My mate was running these and the road noise was surprisingly bad :-/

Yes they are good

Hancook are actually supplying new cars now! I've also seen kumho's on new cars. Guess even car manufacturers are sick of getting bummed off the big tyre companys rediculous prices

Just looked online again and i can get a set of the Uniroyal RainSport3's for the same price as the Hankooks..... Thinking the RS3 will be a better tyre??? Only difference is that the RS3s have a load rating, of the standard for vRS, of 83 and the Hankooks have a load rating of 87.

I've heard the RS3's still have quite soft side walls like the RS2's had a problem with I believe? I'll be going for those Hancooks or some Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39's

I have the Hankooks on the front of my car, they are fine.

Have rainsports on the rear and they are not so fine. Don't like them at all.

I've had Hankooks all round on my vRS for over a year now. Got about 20k miles out of the first pair already, but the tread is getting down a bit now so will be replacing quite soon with more Hankooks (with a rear->front rotation half way through).

I do a lot of motorway miles and don't really consider the noise a problem. The fuel efficiency and wet grip ratings are quite good from what I remember - at least compared to some of the others that are popular with the Fabia.

The Hankooks were amongst the few types recommended to me by a Skoda dealership actually.

Rainsports every day. I get around the soft sidewalls by running them at 36 Psi. Even tread wear and fantastic grip.

I was just on the verge of wagering a fiver on Auric mentioning Rainsports ;)

You owe me £2.50

I'll collect it on the 28th

Loved the ones I have had on both 17" and 16" rims.

Very good drive and lovely and quiate.

I had Hancook Optimo K415s on my fabia when I bought it and thought they were fantastic.

Ive gone for the Hankooks.... Camskill had them for £63 each and i found a tyre place near by that would fit them for £8 each so call it £285 plus delivery.

I then went to my local tyre place and managed to get them down to £295 all in and it's about a mile from home rather than about a twenty mile round trip to the place that'd fit them for £8 each.

So £73.75 a corner all in for the Hankooks. Getting them fitted on Friday.

So how are you getting on with the Hankooks then, Dave?

I'm looking at the V12s for my next set, £62 each at Oponeo

They seem fine Bry. Only issue she has had is the chunk out of the sidewall from clipping something in the snow.

Get a move on though if you want them as the V12s are discontinued now. When I was looking for the replacement for the damaged tyre last month the only place at a good-ish price I could find were mytyres.co.uk and that tyre was couriered over to the fitting centre from a German warehouse. Not a single local tyre place could source them from any UK suppliers.

Just to throw something in the works, I had a set of Barum Bravuris on my vRS. They were just as good in the dry as the Toyo T1R I had on before, but miles better in the wet, and lasted a good deal longer too.

They made for a much comfier ride too.

Well they still had some, so I've ordered 4 Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 K120 205/40 R17 84 W ZR, XLs for £248 delivered, so about the same as Rainsport 3s would have been from Camskill, but without the soft sidewalls

Damn, just found Tyreleader, and they're only £60.29 there.........could have saved myself £7

Gutted!  :(

I run the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's on mine, 205 45 16, done laps of the ring with them, and lots of driving inbetween, rate them very very highly.

Good value, progressive at the limit, and quiet.

Would deff buy again
