Afraid I won't be looking at another How Fast until next year.  September is going to wipe me out, so will probably "retire" for the winter after that, unless a cheap trackday pops up.

Now i have my Fabia on the road, id be interested in seeing how it compares to my laps in the Fez.

Looks like as good day was had by all and i'm glad there were no (serious) issues.

 

Sad I couldn't be there but need something a little more "track focused" and yes i am aware Mike was out there in a Citigo!

 

I did try to arrange a second event in the autumn of the first year we did it but uptake was pretty low; as said people need time for vehicles and bank balances to recover.

Of course people are more than welcome to attend other events/dates off their own backs as they see fit.

You just run the risk of being out with random nutters rather than Briskoda ones

The CR engine in the Ibiza simply doesn't feel like it'd enjoy the track or i'd enjoy it on track not sure which it is.

And the standard Fabia is just a bit meh. Having had a modified one i know how fun they can be but under powered and wobbly suspensioned is not the way to do it.

 

Maybe next time i'll drive over to Richard's and bag a par tinty he Bossfox convoy - baggsie something from NIssan please

I've done an open day there, all sorts of cars, some 600bhp ones, plenty of serious Catherams (one driven by 70 year old lady, who was rather quite fast!) and it was really fun. Bedford for some reason never disappoints . It does not seem to be attracting the testosterone overloaded ilk needing to prove their Saxo can take turns at 100mph

 

As for the booking just call them, give card details over the phone and that's it. I will pay at the end of this coming week.

Not by choice in the Citigo though, but still I had a great day.

 

I think Combe will be the last track day for me this year, I'd love to do another "How Fast" in October, but I'm possibly going travelling in Asia for a month in November so should really be saving for that.

 

I enjoy the club days like this because well the lack on Charle Oscar Charle Kilo's on track, and all are very supportive!

Well I learnt just how difficult it is to video fast moving cars on track using a point&shoot camcorder and get anything like decent footage. Perhaps I should leave it to the on-board videos. Anyway, here's some trackside footage...

Wow that Octy put's it's power down really well, it was pulling away from you at the point where I thought your 4motion might have an edge.

Nice tip though: if car hungry during a track outing, consider feeding it a nutritious snack of traffic cones

I think the biggest problems are not having any manual focus option on the camcorder apart from infinity and having limited trackside access due to health & safety restrictions. (understandable but still annoying)

I know it's on a straight not a corner but there's no tyre roar at all, just air trying to get out of the way.

Watching this Video I can't believe how fast I was going through some of these corners...

I was taking the corner before the pit straight at around 75 to 80mph in 4th.  It was just a matter of me building up to it

 

And the first time I did it I totally outbraked myself at the end and nearly went off

I could get round both of those in the high 60s to very early 70s. Tried a bit quicker once and ended up understeering clean off into the pits. Too quick in.
