Tyre advise

I have decided not to comment on my tyre choice

Hee hee!

Don't tell us - you've removed a matching set of new Michelins and repalced them with a miscellaneous set of four various different, bald, Ying-Tong tyres, all of different sizes, with assorted bulges and cuts, and you run half of them at 5psi and the others (diagonally opposite) at 50psi?

Should certainly provide some entertaining driving, until you end up in jail - or dead!

[For those with a sense-of-humour bypass, relax - this is a joke.]

Just put a couple of the new Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres on my Dads car and they seem pretty good. I have used the Rainsport 2's for a while and they are very good. The Uniroyal's are competitively priced too.

I'm still not telling :notme:

It's been a while since I posted on this forum (mainly because I have had 3 years of totally trouble-free motoring from my Oct 2010 Scout). Finally, with 30,000kms on the clock, I'm going to need new tyres to replace the factory 225/50 17 Dunlop SP Sports.

Any recommendations for tyres specifically well suited to the Scout? I've no intention of selling the car any time soon and am looking for a quality tyre that will give me ~30,000 miles of wear.

I have recently fitted Avon ZZ5 to my VRS and am very pleased. Quieter than the Dunlop Sportmax that were original fitment, no signs of sawtoothing. Only cost £92 each from Mr Tyre. Was thinking of fitting Contis as I had these on my MK1 VRS and they are really good, but cost around £125 each.

Avons are possibly slightly softer than Dunlop or Contis but expect to get 20 K from a set of 4

Any thoughts on what I'm being offered (apart from the obvious observation that they are all f****ing expensive!  Welcome to New Zealand!

Evening. New alloys arrive in morning and have 4x kumho 225 40 18's going on. 320 all in.

I've gone for these as they get ok reviews, and I cannot find a buyer for my crateris x4, so buying these cheaper tyres I can afford to keep the crateris in the shed for winter.

I've been delighted with the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons on the Scout and my long gone SLK230.

Much better in the wet than the oe Dunlops.

Based on recs from here I got 4 Falken 914's they were about £260 fitted. Been good tyres so far.

Personally I'm a Michelin man.  Expensive, but fronts should last 25-35,000 miles rears nearer 50.  From experience (not the models listed though) Dunlops and Continental will struggle to reach half this.
