  • Tonight I had to endure a 15 minute journey with the seat belt warning bonging away merrily following the placement of a heavy bag of shopping on the passenger seat.   I did speak to Avis and appare

Yes.  The wheels are smaller and the tyres are bigger.

Basically it'll be softer due to more tyre sidewall and roll a bit more in the corners.

And feel less "sporty" as there will be a slight loss of steering feel during cornering.

The diesel is not so darty as the petrol anyway as the lighter petrol engine does give a more sprightly front end when cornering.

Slight trade offs for the MPG. :)

aaaaand almost as soon as it began my Rapid "ownership" is over.

So given my short time behind the wheel of an end of life silver '13 plate which had done 10,000, and an equally short time steering a petrol blue '63 plate which was returned due to the dash telling me it required a service, Avis have clearlt decided that I deserve to be punished

To replace the excellent Rapid(s) they have decided I deserve to be Frenched.

As if being in a recent car accident wasn't bad enough I now have to commute in a.....

3008!!

WTF? I can't think of a car much further away from a Rapid!

It's a 1.6 HDi 115bhp and freaking huge so should prove an interesting counter point to the fizzy darty Rapid.

As if to enforce French car stereotypes the guy who dropped it off went "i've just filled it up with fuel but the fuel guage doesn't seem to be working. It's "a thing" (he even did air quotes) on new Peugeots that if it isn't totally empty when you fill it up sometimes it gives a false reading."

Amazing work!!

Enough punishment?

Avis clearly think not as not only is it a slightly dodgy brand new 3008 diesel but it is..............BROWN

Shoot me now!

I wish I'd waited until I got home from work to read this ... I just got some very funny looks in the office for bursting out laughing with no warning!

Even my French relatives don't like these!

How's the 3008 treating you? A guy I work with has one and he seems reasonably happy with it.

It's not actually as horrific as the paint job makes you think it will be.

Have done a couple of hundred miles in it cover the weekend including traffic filled town centres, dual carriageway cruises, B roads, and motorways and it's not bad.

It kind of does everything a new car is supposed to. It's comfy, quiet to cruise in, the ride is comfy, engine if punchy if struggling to lug around a fair amount of metal, economy seems good with just under 50mpg for the mixed driving (70mph cruising balancing out the early hooning).

I also dunno if it's the fact that I have one that has upped my awareness but I have been seeing them everywhere.

I've probably seen 10 over the weekend so I assume they must have something that appeals (mostly to old people or families from what I've noticed)

Electric handbrake takes some time to get used to.

It's is freaking massive though.

There's a storage bin under an arm rest in the centre console which has the aux in/USB port in it.

I plugged my ipod in and dropped it in the bin, I had to put 80% of the length of my arm in there to retrieve it from the bottom!
