Mk3 Octavia VRS Petrol 300bhp Stage 2 coming soon

Tim, before using words like "amateurish" against people that quite clearly are not please take a moment to consider what your statements will make others think of you.

Its quite obvious, that both DTUK & Shark are professional outfits that enhance many peoples enjoyment of their cars, whether those car owners upgrade the brakes and suspension of their cars is a matter for them and possible their insurance companies if it all goes Pete Tong.

T

My reference to amateurish" comment was not aimed at the tuning itself, rather those who would choose to install such a big power upgrade without considering the rest of the car.

I have nothing against anyone who makes their living out of tuning engines, but if this upgrade is offered without due research into the torque limits of the power train (assuming they haven't) then that is somewhat irresponsible isn't it?

  • Some rather bold statements in this thead, this one epitomises them for me.   The front brakes (where most of the braking happens) are the same as the 300PS 8V S3, 340x30mm. The Octavia and Golf sh

  • And then bring it to us for a boost to 350-370?

  • I applaud what Ben and Andrew are developing and offering. There will always be the anti people on every forum, but it's good for us owners to have the choice. Shame we keep getting the same old knock

My Mk2 CR was designed for 170, and is now 200

My Mk2 CR Fabia was designed for 105. and is now 130

Any engine output modification is not 'what the car was designed for, yet you say you are not anti-modding?

Going from 170bhp to 200bhp is nothing like as big a jump as increasing a 220bhp engine to 300 bhp. 30 bhp I would personally judge as an acceptable technical risk, 80 bhp I would not.

Tim, I hadn realised I was talking to you? I know your views etc :)

You know me Andrew, always up for a good debate. But your tuning equipment as far as I am aware does not offer such a perilously high power increase.

Well then we must all bow down to your great judgement

(apologies if that sounds sarcastic)

I can misquote too  ;)

So now we resort to vulgar insults. I'll take such a moronic and low life response as a reply from someone who has lost a debate. How pathetic.

At the end of the day, it's something Shark are doing that's a choice.  Buy or don't.

But they are showing what they can do.

Having seen a 320bhp mk2 Octy get soundly beaten by a stock mk2 Fabia VRS on a damp track, I do tend to prefer 4x4 with large amounts of power, particularly to the front wheels.

But that's my view.

Live and let live. :)

I take it your talking about my best friend Brimma? :)

Don't mention it

I applaud what Ben and Andrew are developing and offering. There will always be the anti people on every forum, but it's good for us owners to have the choice. Shame we keep getting the same old knocking going on. Those who lean towards modding know what the pros and cons are. Those who would not want to go for these mods, absolutely fine, that is what choice is about. The tuners on here do take a lot of unnecessary stick I feel.

+30ps/50Nm on the above.

I take it your talking about my best friend Brimma? :)

I'm warming to you, Andrew

I don't necessarily agree with the way you go about things, but compared to those who decry modding pretty much out of hand with every single post, you're a pussy cat  :)

It's all good fun, and the place would be a lot worse off if we all liked the same things :)

Getting back onto topic, Ben isn't the kind of person to release anything he's not 100% happy with, and if I wasn't happy I wouldn't be working with him or letting him loose on our boxes etc. So test assured that anyone looking to mod their cars will be offered a safe and responsible option from the 2 of us

Having got a Shark map on my Mk2 Octavia vRS CR, and providing a donor vehicle for the 1.6 CR remap, I can certainly vouch for that  :)

Andrew, your sense of humour is spot on. I may not be a potential customer of yours but you do have my respect. And as you say it's all fun and not to be taken seriously :hi:

Many moons ago i used to despise a guy online as he was such a wind up merchant, i finally met him in the "real world" and we got on like a house on fire :)

Keyboards tend to do funny things to some people, but its all part and parcel of a healthy community :)

So lets back to getting at one another's throats again :) as all this nicety is getting boring ..

Any news?

I've read a lot of Ben and Andrews threads on their tuning in the last month. I think it is a shame they get attacked so much. I've not seen a single post from them that is anything but purely factual and professional, yet there are attacks.  OK lots of the attacks don't start out as personal, they attack tuning. Goodness knows why.  People have always wanted more and tuning options feed that.  Did Kent get attacked for developing a fast road cam for a ford sohc engine?  Do pipe benders get attacked for making exhausts or manifolds that give 20bhp? Do toyo get attacked for selling stickier rubber?

Remapping an ECU is no different. If you chose to do it, you accept all risk...... Fit the other upgrades YOU  decide are necessary.... You upgrade and make an individual car, I only you can determine what else is needed. Can't decide? Ok , ask polite questions and learn.

Me.  I'll do nothing to my car while under warranty.  Maybe in a few years..... Hmmm. 300 bhp.... sounds nice.... I'll read into it then.

Can't believe so many people feel the need to make negative comments in respect of remaps.

I have run 260 plus BHP for the last 65000 miles avoided ditches, nothing broke and my last set of front vredsteins lasted for over 20k miles.

I have enjoyed this forum over many years but have noticed a distinct change recently by a noisy negative minority.

If you haven't driven the 300 brake Octavia how can you comment on how it drives!

I am interested in what shark etc have to say and would like to encourage them to post updates and news without the risk of abuse...

People who have maps are not stupid and know the potential issues with warranty.. We are all grown Ups and weigh up the risks.
