Colour Help / Parcel shelf cover?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I am just about to order my new company car - a superb estate DSG 170 TDI L&K with an electronic boot

I'm a bit worried about the brown dash and seats and i've been to skoda dealers but unable to find an L&K to have a look for myself! It looks totally different from photo to photo... sometimes quit enice looking and dark and other times its horrible and bright!

I was planning to get the car in metallic black, but quite like the look of white and was wondering if anyone has any pictures where there is a noticeable difference between the solid / metallic.

Also i quite like the greys / silvers / purple and cappuccino...

I have seen some pics of all colours mentioned above on this forum but my main concern is the brown dash will clash with some colours!

Has anyone seen them in the flesh or even better have any pictures for me?

Another thing i noticed is on the skoda website the boot cover (im assuming parcel shelf) is an option... surely the car comes with this as standard or is it something totally different?!

Thanks for any help!

Hi UB9, welcome,

I have the magnetic brown L&K with brown interior as per your spec, I too was a bit worried at first but have to say its the best color I have come across so far IF you use the estate to carry mountain bikes, work tools etc and stuff ! To give you a idea of color I would say its very slightly lighter brown than milk chocolate, it is certainly not plain chocolate brown color.

When the car is being used in 'Limo' mode for personnel transport it looks very sophisticated and I have been amazed at how many people have passed complementary comments about the interior color scheme.

I did test drive a black saloon before getting my estate that too looked very sophisticated. Can't comment about the actual color combos you mention but my feeling is that the brown interior will work better with the darker body colors.

I had exactly the same query over the rear parcel shelf - the brochures do seem to be a bit misleading but rest assured you will get a parcel shelf that can be configured to automatically semi retract on boot opening - which is a nice touch, You will also get the boot load restraint system (bars, nets and adjustable seat belty sort of thing you see at airports for making ques) all very useful for stopping the shopping rolling about in the massive boot space.

Hope that helps

Thanks for all your info! You don't happen to have a picture of the interior of your car do you to post (or a link to one you have previously posted)?

i wonder what on earth it is then that they are referring to in the skoda book?

Sorry in wife's MX5 today, will happily post tomorrow.

Have you tried the "visualizer" on the Skoda config page, it actually shows the car in a video and I think the colors seem pretty good to real life.

Here is the link, click on "Discover the 3D visualizer" about half way down on the right hand side of the page. Only the Hatch model seems to work at present but it should give you an idea.

There quite a few threads on here from people who have had the same worries as you including me . I managed to obtain a leather swatch from SUK (the only one in the uk at the time) and it is quite different in the "flesh" so to speak than in the photographs. I cannot remember anyone who went on to buy the car regretting it. Mine is two years old in April and I still like it when new people travel in my car for the first time and complement the interior.

My car is metallic Steel Grey and as was said earlier dark colours IMHO compliment the brown interior well. Please bear in mind that a lot of the internal materials are also a shade of brown to also match the leather.

If you do you will be pleased again IMHO.

UB9,

Have attached some pics, its a grey day down here so the camera has struggled to get the true colors. Hope it will give you an idea of how the color scheme works.

Don't know if you fancy a trip out this weekend but Progress Skoda in Letchworth have the sister car to mine, they ordered two, one saloon and one estate  - it seems they still have the saloon there. So you could view brown interior.

I also queried the boot cover when ordering my Elegance FL estate. It comes with a manual full cover as standard, which works well by just tapping the top which retracts it partially, a second tap and it retracts fully. The £60 option is the fully auto retract when the boot is opened.

Are you aware that you can now get an L and K with black or Ivory interiors?

Ahh this almost got me! i called skoda uk and they confirmed its still only with the brown of ivory / brown

so i've gone for it, estate tdi 170 in black with brown leather, electric boot... i wonder how long it will take to build it!

thanks for all the help and info everyone, especially Smudgers those pics won me over!

also in the search for decent L&K pics i also found these on parkers, so if anyone else is stuck like i was i will post them up some links because they are HUGE

Glad to be of assistance, hope the wait is not too long - my dealer was able to check stock at port of exit to see what was available - may be a way of getting a bit quicker IF your happy to perhaps compromise on exact spec.

As my old nan used to say "All good things come to those who wait" - she was never wrong !
