Just notice something weird in my Superb!

Featured Replies

Now is it just me or is something not quite right here??

It's a 62 Superb SE with half black suede/leather interior. I've just noticed today that the drivers side doors are trimmed in leather

whereas the passenger side doors are in cloth!

Shouldn't all doors be leather??

Well one way or another, it's sure weird.....

Have you had the car from new? Or has it been involved in an accident and the doors replaced. Very strange

The car was bought used from my local Skoda dealer in November last year. If it's been in some kind of accident should they not have disclosed it??

It's my 4th Skoda from there and I've not had any problems or 'inconsistencies' with any of the other cars!

I only noticed this afternoon when picking my daughter up from school.

What to do?????

Take it back!

Mines a 62 SE and I just popped out and checked and they are definitely both leather.  However, it is such a small panel of leather its the sort of thing that might have been fitted in error at the factory as the door trim would look very similar to one with black cloth.  have a look at the door hinge bolts to see if they show signs of witness marks from a spanner or socket. That might suggest accident damage leading to a new door being fitted.

I think I'm gonna take it in and ask.

If it's been damaged then it must have been a major whack to need both doors replacing. Surely the central pillar would have been affected if both doors had been damaged.

It's bugging me now!

Mines the same SE and mines all fake leather..........

Probably just a mis-build, it's not uncommon but should have been spotted at PDI. Warranty should cover it as technically it's a manufacturing defect

If they have a PDI guy checking one side and another guy checking the other, neither would notice it.  I'd still want the garage to sort it out though.

Take it back!

This...

You would've thought so, but read this, my post is right at the bottom, and the car is still for sale with no mention of the damage, if somebody phoned up and enquired about the car, it would be interesting to hear what they say, here's the details if anyone feels like asking the question.

The bodywork is actually immaculate, I've inspected the bolts/brackets and all around the door pillars. If it has been repaired

then it's an impressive job.

I'm tempted to live with it because I'll no doubt trade it in for a newer one sometime next year.

If it has been damaged previously, does anyone know where I stand legally?? Are they obliged to disclose it or should

I get an independent check, or will SUK know about it?

Sounds like a mis-build at the factory which then subsequently hasn't been picked up post production or in PDI by the dealer.

take it back to the dealer and get them to rectify under warranty.

Just out of curiosity (and a bit of badness) I've just called Dadscab's dealer about that Skoda, still on the forecourt. Asked if there was anything to be aware of before making the trip to see it, asked specifically if there were any bodywork problems, blemishes, scuffs and was told by the nice chap on the other end that it was all fine, it's been through a full check and it's without fault..........

I wonder if it would be worth reporting This dealership to skoda UK, I think it's disgusting how dishonest they are, Especially considering they are a Supposed to be a main dealership, I'm pretty sure they shouldn't be acting like some back Street dodgy car dealers.

None of which has anything to do with the OP, the dealer in question or this thread, other than Dadscab's desire to take an opportunity to slag off 2 completely different dealers that he disagrees with.

BJM, This was the question asked by italian job. You however omitted this from your post, So the relevance of my answer Is quite obvious.

The dealer is under no obligation to disclose it, they may not even know as most of the new'ish Superbs float around the dealer network after being supplied by Skoda HQ. If it does not sell within a certain timeframe at one dealer its moved to another.

Car misbuilds do happen, for example we have had a Fabia on here that had 2 different wheels on one side of the car to the other.

I'm taking it in anyway as the stereo won't play music from the SD card, so a perfect opportunity to find out about the trim.
