Signed up/paid a deposit on our next fast family saloon today. Expected to take delivery of our blue one in early May. We have managed to bag one of the few coming to the UK this year.

Got a good price for our Ford RS, which they will honour till I take delivery of the new one Subaru. We can't wait. My little lad loves the blue ones! My wife is liking the AWD aspect of the Sti, as well as the 4-doors.

We will still have our Octavia Blackline VRS which I feel is the perfect opposite against the Sti.

It's not a limited edition is it?

Thought the STI was just a higher/harsher spec level over the WRX.

No buddy, it's not a limited edition. But only 200 are coming to the UK this year.......

So if you don't mind waiting you could test drive and then order and get one a bit later or 2015.

I was a big Subaru fan previously but they just went downhill IMO and got left behind by the Evo.

I hope this one is a return to form for them.

Can't wait to hear what you think of it, I had 3 of these over 8 years and absolutely loved them and I still have a soft spot for them. Enjoy the wait!!!

Well, managed to get some news from my Subaru dealer today, who had gotten a visit from some head-office guy from Subaru today.

The first 1000 sti's have already sold worldwide. These had gold alloys thrown on as a bonus, as well as a quick-shift gear change. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to get one of these despite ordering relatively early. Mine will have shadow-chrome alloys on. I'm not too bothered, but my little lad wanted gold alloys! However, it would seem at this stage all the UK cars will have a quick-shift as standard.

No more info until March - he said the Subaru guy was being very cagey!

I'm going to go stir-crazy waiting for this car!

What made you sell the RS Hulkster? I'm looking at getting one and I was just interested.

Still driving the RS till May buddy, when it will go in for the Subaru. I will have owned this one for around 14 months by then, but it's my fourth! Since my first one in 2010 I ended up getting bored and selling them for something "normal" but got bored and regretted it and ended up back in an RS. To be honest, I love the RS, but I feel I have well and truly scratched the itch and for now the Subaru will replace it until Ford decide on what they are doing with the next RS.

Would I buy a fifth Focus RS? Maybe. They sort of get under your skin and the RSOC forum is a fantastic club where those that leave the ownership of the RS still hang around for the banter.

Best looking Scoob since the Classic IMO.

I'm surprised they are sticking around 300bhp as figures around that have been an option for many years and the STI should be the all singing/dancing version.

Standard Scoobs with the factory backed performance pack going back several generations are close on power.

With the Golf R and S3 pushing nearly 300bhp and also having four wheel drive it's not got the market to itself.

But I'm sure not building loads will mean they all sell.

 

I do like the styling though and it has to be blue.

My only slight concern is that the rear appears to be quite tall and narrow looking.

But maybe that's due to the large spoiler.

Order cancelled. Various reasons made me get cold feet.

Sticking with my Focus RS for now....

I looked at it whilst at the Geneva show a few weeks ago and it did nothing for me...and I really like Imprezas.

Honestly? It was the subaru owners on Scoobynet - since I posted on that site about getting one of these there has been a constant stream of warnings about the 2.5 engine in the new one. Basically it's the same one Subaru have used for years that has been dogged by ringland failures. There are some shocking stories about Subaru trying to dodge out of warranty claims by blaming driver error.

The dealer I was buying mine from was nearly 4 hours travel away, and I wasn't comfortable with that fearing possible future engine problems. Also, the 5 year warranty Subaru are banding about is actually only 3 years on the Sti. What does that say about Subarus confidence in their own product?
