Hi Folks, I collected my brand new Fabia vRS from my local Skoda dealership on the 20th November 2004, and have been using it on a daily basis ever since. That makes the duration of my ownership 3355 days, or 9 years 2 months and 7 days.  This length of ownership reflects my total satisfaction with the vehicle, which has now covered 130,000 miles.  I wondered if there were any other long-term owners on this forum, some who may have owned the same Fabia for a longer period than me?  :)

I have the Ibiza Tdi 130 which I bought new In 2003 and have covered 131k miles. Very pleased with it too!

Purchased new Fabia 1.9TDi Elegance estate 01/09/01 (51 plate) and selling to fellow Briskodian.  Just nicely run for him (only 75k miles).  So I have had the car for 12 1/2 years.  Been very happy years I can tell you.

Car going on the 8 February, will be a very sad day and mixed emotions :'( .  Replacement car already here, Citigo Sport.  I hope it turns out to be as good as the Fabia.

Bought the mongrel with 50,000 on the clock early Feb 2004, so coming up for that decade anniversary now!  I've put about 150,000 on it since I think.  20k before mongrelling, and 130k since mongrelling.

No plans to sell it either funnily enough :D

Bought mine for a 1st September 2004 delivery. Factory order with most option boxes ticked (apart from sun roof, heated seats (wish i had ordered these now) and sat nav).

Only covered 58k since then. It's been and still is a cracking car. Very few issues - odd door leak is about it which were easily dorted.

With a few sensible mods (leather, remap, RARB, springs, 312s etc) really has been the perfect balance between performance/economy and reliability.

One other thing worth mentioning that has also contributed to my happy motoring is Briskoda. With it's wealth of knowledge it really has made ownership easier & more pleasurable.

On a more personal note my local dealer has also been excellent as they have carried out nearly all the work on the car

Don't think I'd ever sell it.

No you can't beat it

I think given the whinging and complaining you hear from "2nd hand" purchasers in no short time anyway

Must tell my chocolate KKK to blow up sometime soon for christ sakes, given its only been 110K miles and 7 years since I got the car......

Ditto to most of what Delroy said above - with the exception of the work. Over half the caring / keeping the car perfect has been done by myself.

Got mine new in Jan/Feb 2001........................defo needs some paint work sorting now!

My sentiments exactly, but, there comes a time when a change is required, and I'll be very sad to see mine go, as it's seen many joyous and sadder times.  Just had a new cam belt fitted at the dealers last week (£369), and 4 x new tyres (£320) due to be fitted on Wednesday; unfortunately this expense is required to keep me mobile until a new car arrives at some completely random time between June/July/August, or September 2014.  It certainly has very much to live up to!

(Apologies to the folk who have had their furbies between 7 and 9 years, there doesn't seem to be a Poll option for you.  Unfortunately I can't edit the Poll now people have voted, so just select the closest option to you, sorry!)

When it comes for mine to go - I will be breaking it for parts.  With £1,000 6 pot brakes on the front and a £900 tubular manifold (to name but a couple of mods) there's no way I could sell it as a going concern unless the buyer was willing to pay the premium for all the mods I have done.

I wouldn't be selling mine other than I have an Octavia FL estate and so for the last 4 years we are running 2 estate cars.  Boys grown up enough just don't fit in the Fabia for holidays and the like so bigger car was required.  Octavia bought new in Dec 09.

Change in circumstances dictates that I also don't need a diesel as well as the second estate car so the Fabia has to go.

Bought ours new in July 2006 and kept it bog standard for 53,000 miles.

Traded it in for the Octavia October 2012.

7 years of faultless ownership, well apart from the obligatory leaky rear door seals. :D

The next owner had the wheels done black straight away then sold it back to the same dealer three months later for a Mk2.

Sold by the dealer within a week and I believe that owner still has it.

I took delivery of my car on the 12th August 2006 and I still smile broadly when I drive it. No plans at all to get rid of it. The next service will be 201,000 miles. And it's still on the original clutch. The turbo was swapped at 150,000 miles on a precaution but the technician that worked on the car said there was years of life left in the original one after he inspected it.

It gave a bit of trouble with sensors just after Christmas, but it was cheap to fix and it's all A-OK again now.

I REALLY can't express how much joy i've had out of this car.

I had my mkI octy for just under 9 years. We have had our mkI Leon since new in September 2003.

Only had my X reg Fabia for a little over two years. In that time I've spent just on £1000 on ball joint, wheel bearing, radiator, thermostat + housing, and electric window mechanism replacement. But I love driving it and have no intentions of selling. That said, I am looking to buy Fabia Mk1 1.9 TDi. What can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment :D

Owned mine for 4.5yrs and 76k miles, in that time (and from the receipts I can find) I have spent just shy of £4k in parts and labour (including a turbo refurb in 2011 @ 148k for £700), new clutch and flywheel @ 166k at £500 (lost the receipt :( ). Will be changing soon for something newer :)

This is the 2nd Fabia vRS SWMBO has owned, as well as one Octavia vRS.

The previous red Fabia vRS only had service and tyres.

The silver Octy was service and brake discs/pads on the front.

The current black Fabia has just has a service, plus a split brake pipe from the servo (causing the pedal to go hard and be ineffective if the pedal was depressed hard twice or more in rapid succession) due to have a clutch in around 2 months time (at 42k, thanks to the first owner using it incorrectly...l)

Weigh all this in against my Vauxhall Insignifica SRi nav 160 which is 2 yrs old in March;

Just had to have the clutch and DMF replaced at 26k due to the release bearing collapsing, causing the clutch to wear heavily on one side and cooking the DMF.

They replaced these, took it on a test drive only to report a burning smell, which was the alternator frying itself.

Oh, it's also had new pads all round and due it's second set of tyres (235/35 18's iirc)

Thankfully, the clutch DMF and release bearing are all warranty work, as was the alternator.

Fuel economy has dropped from an average of 49mpg to around 46 so they have uploaded 'the latest ecu data'...

To add insult, they managed to smash the plastic engine cover and then looked bewildered when I cornered them about it, and there was no sign of any paperwork for the work they did.

Vauxhall? I'd be better off in an FSO.....

Only had my 2003 Fabia Classic MPI since July last year. Previous owner had neglected to rectify various faults but I am the type of person that likes everything perfect on my car, so I have spent a long time and a fair bit of money on sorting everything out and now it's a very decent little car.

Have previously owned various Estelles and a Rapid 136, all of which I loved despite what some people say about them.
