My hard day(s) work :)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a sneaky look at what I have been doing today!

Like all other VRS owners, I was getting fed up of the grubby looking white carpet, constant cleaning and still looking really old!

This is what it looked like:

Then one trip to the scrappy and an hour and £5 later i came home with this :

one good condition mk4 Golf black carpet, if a little dirty.

After a long sessions with the hoover and VAX carpet cleaner:

and now fitted to the car :

what do you all think?

Same floor plan or any trimming needed? Very tempted to do this after scrubbing carpets for 2 hours this afternoon

Looks great

you show off!

of course it looks good

Intrested to see if it fits the same without issues?

Well,

It went straight in no holes under back seats like the bora carpet it lines up perfectly with the underlay. Absolute bargain!

The only thing is you will have to get new mats as the mk4 golf has a stud system not a screw system.

Any further questions please ask away,

Cheers

luckilly my octy came with black carpet

Do you have completed pics with the seats back in. I keep thinking about doing this to mine, but not sure how dark it would look in contrast to the seats

Looks brill!

Will take one tomorrow with the seats in

Yes yes yes!! This is what i need to do however every time i contact someone breaking a golf on ebay they want £50-60 for the carpet

that looks instantly better.

So, it is just from an everyday normal 5 door MK4 golf yeah?

In my old supra I just took out the carpet and used carpet dye - took from grey to black in a matter of minutes. Left to dry for a day and jobs a goodun :)

Yes,

The carpet I bought was from a 5 door 1.6 bogo standard golf didn't even have electric windows!

Pabs I bet your dye was more than £5! Lol

Paddy

£5 that's a bargain mate, makes the interior look so much better IMO.

Good effort

Dye was £4.99 ;)

Im so taking a trip to the breakers tomorrow

Superb mod

Superb mod

It's an Octavia

Great mod this, done mine last year.

How long does it take to get all the seats and trims out?

and any issues with airbags when you disconnect?

My bog diesel came with black carpet, but after 10yrs its looking a bit poor in places.

Probably dont need to replace jsut a jolly serious cleaning, but proper full on, not trying to get round corners and under seats shyting about...

You can change the fixings!

Just unscrew them anti clockwise you might need some pliers or something for leverage

pull hard enough to lift the carpet slightly

and then unscrew whilst pulling. You can also change the female

side plates that are fitted in the mats. prise apart with a screwdriver

and replace with the vw ones. They will deffo fit. Check ebay.

Great job ,,just fitted a bora one to mine last night ,   makes the car look and feel a million times better.

A word of warning though , be sure to make certain that its all fitted properly around the pedals, especially the accelorator.

Mine wasnt fitted right ( prob due to the fact i was finishing it at 11.30 at night ) and the next day my throttle stuck on the carpet and wouldnt budge .

all good now .
