loss of power/misfire

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Felicia 1.3GLi 1998, in dry drives perfectly, in wet weather (which we seem to get all the time now!) and particularly after going through puddles car loses power and misfires, need to drop into neutral keep revs up for a while and then picks up again. I'm thinking ignition coil pack may be arcing and getting water onto it, as it's had new plugs etc recently. Trouble is they're £100 plus a go so don't particularly want to get one if it's not the way to go. Any ideas guys?

It could be that there are some little cracks in the rubber sealing boots that go on the spark plug letting moisture in.

Thanks Tom, that's what I'm thinking, going to have to bite the bullet and buy one methinks.

I would go and get one off a scrap car if it was me, whereabouts are you based? Often the eagle eyed folks on here spot them in breakers yards around the place.

I'm in Petersfield so not far from Portsmouth etc

There was a 1300mpi at g r Harris breakers yard in southbourne a couple of days ago, I don't recall seeing the coilpack but I wasn't looking for one to be fair, I had both the wing mirrors off it on Friday last.

Well thanks Tom, popped over to Harris' yesterday, coil pack there, off 2000 1.3 estate. Fitted it this morning and went to find as many puddles as I could, all seemed fine. Time will tell I suppose, when we get the next deluge this coming week to see if it misbehaves. Just need it to last couple of months more as OH is keen on a new Citigo and they have a long waiting list. Thanks again for the tip off.
