Thinking of buying a Mk1 Octavia - Got some questions?

Featured Replies

Hello thinking of buying my girlfriends dads Mk1 Octavia Ambiance on an 04 plate with 100k on the clock for £1500, but there are a few issues and I wanted some advice.

1. The drivers door electric mirror and remote locking dont work so I took it to "Smiths Auto's" in Bristol for a look and they have said there is a motor / modual in the door which is corroded and rusting away. Also its about £100 for a new one and £80 to fit, I have used them many times before so I trust there advice. My question is does anyone else have this problem? is it common? and is it worth going to the car breakers??

2. There is a knocking in the front when I go over bumps or pot holes. Sounds a bit like a worn bush, maybe anti-roll bar links etc??

3. Less important but are there different trim levels etc. I have no arm rest, only 1 drinks holder and a tape player lol. Once again I could hit the car breakers.

Would be grateful for any feed back

Should also point out it has FSH.

Welcome  :hi:

You'll be best to ask or search in the Mk1 Octavia section, I can't comment on the door issue but the knocking could be a number of things, anti-roll bar, wishbone, even exhaust mount, it's just pinpointing it.

There is a car parts for sale section on here might be worth looking at for the interior stuff, but if you're getting rid of the tape player I'd recommend an after-market stereo, the OEM ones are pretty rubbish TBH.

Hi and welcome aboard.
