Would you buy this car?

Featured Replies

hi billdavies,

like you it took me a while to get my fabia vrs, i've had mine 2 years now and have enjoyed every minute of driving it, when i bought it mileage was 114k odd miles, my car is a 06 plate, i had no evidence of timing belt being changed so straight to skoda new timing kit £300 fitted, then i had to changed four brake discs £300 again, i then changed the oil and filters £50, just before i bought the car from the garage they put it through a m.o.t,

it failed on a couple of items. i then checked the dvla site on previous m.o.t and mileage, it had a couple of stamps for servicing up to 76k then nothing. But it pulls like hell and standard, its now on 142k if i covered the mileage you wouldn't tell, normal bits i have also changed like rear shocks, top mounts, arb bushes, console bushes, drop-links.

why don't you check the for sale section. at least they can tell you the history and you know that the car has been looked after. happy looking.

Was this from Evans Halshaw (Vauxhall dealer in Newport?)

If so, I also went to view this a few weeks ago but was a little put off by the history and the damage to the front.

Did you happen to buy it?

Cheers

Yes its the one at Evans Halshaw. Theres silver paint which shows signs of a repair on the grill but then again Im no mechanic, I could be wrong. There was just no loving given to this car and although I would love to have spent money on her I just couldnt afford it as its at the top end of my price range. Managed to get a 53 plate Comfort Fabia 1.9 TDI with 45K on the clock for £2500 so my search is over....for now...I will find a VRS!!

I also planned to buy this but was in the same boat, would require a service and belts being done but won't have extra cash to spend. Shame really, looked like a nice motor, did you manage to test drive it?

If so, how did it run?
