How to get access to behind the dash + fuse area.

Featured Replies

Just bought one of these:-

and had a quick look by the pedals to see how I can gain access to the back of the dash and fuse area to wire it all up. It all looks quite solid under there and couldn`t see how to easily get behind it.

I intend using a fuse tap to have it permanently wired up to an ignition controlled source. I know I can easily get access to the fuses just not behind them.

Any tips on how to get behind there is much appreciated

If it is anything like the Octavia you need to take the dash off under the steering wheel, starting by removing the light switch and the trim to access the high level screws, with the low level screws being visible in the footwell. If the fuse panel is to the right as you open the door? there is a possibly a screw to remove there too.  Once that is off it is relatively obvious.

Thanks Adam, I`ll have a closer look. I`m just waiting for my fuse taps to arrive.

It looks a lot more solid than my `06 Accord. That was just a single screw and a few clips.

It's different than in Octy,

In S2, just remove the drawer below the steering wheel, and then unscrew 2 torx located at top and bottom fusebox, from the door side.

Then You can remove it via empty drawer space. You probably will have empty slots for additional fuses, so after moving lila plastic part downwards, just use the repair connector N 907 326 03 from your dealer and put new fuse between them. Before placing the connector, ensure if in above slot is an spare OEM connector correct type of power (I mean - permanent or ignition active).

Thanks Enriquez I`ll give that a go, although I`m not fully understanding what that dealer part does that a fuse tap won`t do.

The dealer part is just a repair wire that plugs into the back of the fuse board (4.8mm diameter terminal), to be soldered to your device wire, as opposed to the fuse tap which in my opinion is untidy.
