Felicia 1.3 spi pickup engine swap feasability pd130/pd150?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

Just thinking about it at the minute, due to my pickup having a running issue that I can't resolve (maybe another thread).

Just wondering on the pro's/con's of doing a PD swap? I would be using a complete donor car so would have everything, engine, 'box, linkages, loom, ecu, turbo, ancilliaries, clocks and fuel pump etc.

If someone has tried and it's deffinately a no no then i'll rethink, but if it's a not tried or there are problems I may be able to overcome then I may give it a go.

Not bought a donor yet so pd115 and pd150 are options also.

Guess I'm on my own on this one then... :/

apologies, i must have missed this topic, yes i think a pd engine will go in there, but it is fraught with problems you would need to solve, it requires an amount of chopping and welding to make it work

i cant log into my photobucket page from here so i cant show you what you need to see, but i will do it when i get home later.

this is the way i transplanted the 1.8T into mine, to all intents and purposes the engine is broadlty the same as a 1.9pd unit, this is not the only way to do it, nor am i suggesting its the best way to do it either.. this is the passenger side (gearbox side) mounting, i cut the oem mounting off the body, then chopped out a space for the mk4 golf mountings, then plated it all up

there was a lot of other work involving converting the felicia pedal box for hydraulic clutch operation, packaging the intercooler is a nightmare too becuase it simply isn't designed for it, plus both of the driveshafts were custom made

Great, thanks for the info. It's nothing I haven't done before in one form or another (vr6 mk2 golf, 1.8t haldex 4wd corrado amongst others).

As soon as my octavia is mobile again I might have a bash.
