Brake Pads warning, cable snaped :/

Featured Replies

Hi,

couple days ago my car told me check brake pads ... well no probs, looked at them and they are perfectly fine (almost brand new) at least outer one ... read about it a bit and found on forum info that inner ones are wearing off bit quicker,  had a look and they also seemed fine. So I have inspected the cables and as the pad plug goes into the socket, socket is mounted into metal fitting on the shock absorber/McPherson thingy plastic splited exactly on that spot exposing cables:/

My question is (if anyone can tell) how big pain will be replacing that wiring? Where can I buy them? Or maybe roughly how much will it cost me?

Can you post a photo? I'm sure someone will be along to advise......

Tie the cables and put a bit of tape around them unless it's the actual loom back from where the pads connect?

and for reference where about it is (not exactly)

as you can see .. tape won't do the trick + got a strange feeling that when I will try to swop pads I will rip it clean off :/

EDITED: photo server changed (ever so sorry just used some googled one)

changed to another

Get hold of a magnifying glass and examine the damaged connector - it will have a VAG p/n moulded on it - order new housing from local VAG dealer, carefully crush one fitted to car and retrieve the connector pins, fit them into the new housing.

Mine was the same when I put new disc's and pads on Saturday, crack the same as yours, but my wiring was ok so I filled the crack up with silicon sealer to stop water getting in seems ok at the mo
