Right we've had our new Monte for 5 days and last night was the first time I've driven it at night and all I can say WTF were Skoda thinking when they spec'd these headlight bulbs...???? the bulbs are in a word crap so has anyone got any feedback on replacement bulbs for this model..??? any info will be very appreciated........

Have a search mate there are possibly 100's of threads about this 1 topic

I don't think they took into account the dirty great big glass marbles they ise to "project" the light.

Loads of people have upgraded their bulbs to either Phillips Xtreme or Osram night breaker plus and noticed a huge difference. You could pop into your dealer and ask them to raise the lights a little.

I think I'm going with the Osram night breaker plus golds, but before I fit them I'll take a trip to the dealers for them to be checked and hopefully adjusted

I like almost all Fabia owners experience this problem, personally I raised the beam a little and fitted Phillips Xtreme which made driving at night so much safer.

How do u raise the beam, the roller switch on the dash is set to 0 I have heard n read somewhere about adjuster screws on the headlights (are they white plastic hex screws on top of the headlight..??)

I believe thats those, yes

I read somewhere they are green, probably be the same thing but different colours. If your gunna have a mess with it, park infront of a big flat wall and make sure your level on the ground.

The adjuster screws are white/ grey on top of each headlight unit, I think it's anticlockwise to raise and visa versa.

It's really easy to do and as said above, face a wall or garage door on flat ground to make sure both lights are level.

Does anyone know the bulb size h7/h4/h1 ??

Thanks Mark

Put hids in mine last week there 100x better now

It's H7 for Monte projector headlights.

You only need 1 per unit as they use a shutter system to change between high and low beam.

I've got Bosch 90+ in mine and coupled with adjusting the height they're miles better.

I did have Osram Nightbreakers in first but these were out of my old car and probably past their best but I've found the beam to be much better with the Bosch 90s and they were only £7.49 a pair from Euro Carparts when they were on offer, bargain.

Have Nightbreakers in ours and the dealer raised the lights on request before delivery. Not as good as our Octy lights with the same bulbs but a lot better than with the standard factory 'basics' Osrams.

First post, so be kind. I have had a Monte Tech Estate for a week and want to change the single headlight bulbs. All the discussion is about the bulbs but not the actual job of removal and replacement. I have had a tentative attempt at twisting the left bulb to remove it, but there is no "give" and I do not want to break anything. The right hand bulb may need the removal of the fuel filter (it's a diesel). I will appreciate the advice of those with some experience.

The housing that the wires go into twists anticlockwise, there shouldn't be much resistance.

It should just twist and pull out, leaving the bulb exposed ready to remove and change.

You shouldn't have to remove the fuel filter as it's only a small part of the light fitting that comes away.

Thanks Gazbull17

Well I managed to change the left bulb, but it was not easy to twist. I found I could only get my fingers onto it and so not enough torque. Ended up doing the final twist carefully with pliers . I will only attack the right bulb when I have lots of time and patience and may make up a tool for the job. The workshop manual actually recommends removal of the fuel filter.

Mine's a petrol so didn't have any obstructions, glad you managed to get one sorted anyway.

oh, I have noticed a bit of condensation on my DRL/Fogs also

I may have already said this but the DRL/Fog Light units are not sealed they have drain holes in them and that's how the moisture gets in, very annoying though!

I understand wot u are saying but surely theres a fix for this very annoying fault......there shouldn't be a problem on a week old £15k car :@

I dont believe many people bother if they are or not haha.

Its only a little bit more powerful so itll be fine :).
