Service in Sheffield

Featured Replies

Hi

I wondered if anyone has any recommendations of where to service my '11 DSG Superb in Sheffield? I'm pretty much dealer'd out financially I don't feel they offer anything a decent garage could offer me at a much lower price.

I'm currently up to 80k miles and up for service in 3-4k according to the vehicle status, I'm on variable at the mo.

A couple of things,

should I get the cam belt done at this service?

I'm going to need dsg oil change, anyone done this outside of dealer network and what did it cost?

Should I stay on variable (garage would need to be able to reset that) or move to a fixed miles interval?

I have an extended warranty with warranty direct so need to be a VAT registered garage to keep that going. I don't care about a Skoda stamp in the book because I plan on keeping this car until I get close to 200k by which time it won't be worth much anyway and the extra expense of using a dealer won't come close to the very minor drop in value.

All recommendations gratefully received :-)

If Doncaster isnt to far for you there is vagco . www.vagco.co.uk

Where in Sheffield are you.

I would still be tempted to take it to Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield, as main dealer prices with genuine parts are still comparable in my opinion, especially with you looking at cambelt, dsg oil/filter etc, etc.

Just look at the fixed price menu that they have on there web page.......................

Had my Superb serviced at Leeds Skoda,

but DSG Oil changed at Sheffield Skoda.

Another option.

Is to get parts from Skoda and get a local garage to fit.

Ring Parts dept in Sheffield and mentioned BriSkoda and their online prices - and thy will try to give u a discount.

Well I cant see a fixed price menu on the web page but they are quite a way off on some things.

I spoke to Steve in service and the best they could do for a cam belt kit with water pump and fresh anti freeze for my 1.8t 4x4 was around £460 fitted.

My local indy did the same work with genuine parts from TPS for £330 all in.

Autohaus Dolby just off Attercliffe common near ice skates/indoor sports centre.

These guys were great when I had my last car serviced, and would highly recommend them.

Matt is a great guy and knows his stuff

Plus, they've just become a site sponsor

We have found a really good VAG specialist In Dronfield just on the outskirts of Sheffield. We have used them on numerous occasions, they use genuine parts and price wise they blow dealer prices out of the water, The place is called Volks-Tek. 100% recommended

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll take a look at AutoHause Dolby and Volks-Tek. Always good to go with a sponsor but it's the pounds leaving my pocket which will seal it.

I don't believe for a second that dealer prices can come close and they always always end up being more than you've been quoted after adding extras that they've 'found'. As far as I understand most of the 'checks' they do are, plug in computer and see if the diagnostics tell you it needs changing rather than it being based on any sort of knowledge, experience or visual acumen.

Thanks for all the advice.

I thought I should follow up on this.

I went with Autohaus Dolby in the end. What can I say, they were awesome. Prices a long way below that of the mains dealers.More knowledgeable than most I've spoken to at dealers over the years, called me to let me know my car was nearly finished (no chasing at all which is unheard of!), showed me the work they'd done and checked I was happy with everything before I went. All in all, fantastic service. All genuine parts so even if I was in warranty it would hold up.

I also went and got my alignment done at Autodynamics who, handily, are just down the road from Autohaus on Attercliffe Road. 4 Wheel Hunter laser alignment. Again, really impressed. All 4 checked but only the front two were out so I only paid £30 plus VAT, I got to watch them do it and all work was explained as it went along. You also get a print out of before and after.

Two strong recommendations for Sheffield folk.

Thanks to those on this forum that helped me find Autohaus Dolby!

Thanks for the recommendations guys

Glad to see you went with my recommendation and are happy :)
