Skoda FL in todays Daily Mirror

Shame though that eg Vector 4 Seasons aren't an official option (or even a standard fitment on YO for the UK).

Perhaps prodata meant any brand of all weather tyre, but was just saying Vectors (Goodyears), as that was the tyre mentioned in the article.

Just saying!

On the subject of tyres, I find that the traction control has to step in just about every time I pull out of a junction in our 1.2 DSG (and before you say it I don't drive it like I've nicked it) Just wondering if this is because it has a light front end with it only having an engine out of a hair dryer under the bonnet? Or do the wheels try spinning on other Yetis.

Hairdryer?

Others here have nothing but praise for the 1.2, especially coupled with the DSG.

Yes indeed - pretty much what I meant (actually it would have been all-season tyres generically rather than specifically winters, but that's getting into semantics). Thanks for the input of common sense.

I was meaning it more in a physical size kind of way as looking at it it is tiny. You won't hear any complaints from me about the engine and gearbox setup. it's great. It is nicest car we've had. You would never know it was a 1.2 under there apart from possibly the fact that the front seems so light as said in earlier post.  We absolutely love it.

Sorry to misconstrue.

What tyres do you have and what condition are they in? Last time I had a front wheel drive car with such symptoms it was a cooper "s" with still legal but  lethal contis.

They're Pirelli P zeros. The car's only 2 weeks old so tyres are new. They grip fine on twisty damp roads, I have no issues with them apart from I can feel the T/C step in when setting off from standing quite often. Not a major problem. Maybe it's something to do with the DSG changing up to 2nd so quickly from setting off(less than a Second) causing them to loose traction at that point.

This has been reported before with the 1.2s.  It seems to be a light front end.

Thought that might be the reason

And a question to our European members: if you buy a Yeti in the winter, does it come on winter tyres? (Although I think I know the answer!!)

We bought our Yeti in summer (2012) and it was fitted with Continentals (summer tyres, of course) but I'm quite sure if You get Your new car (any new car) here now, it will be fitted with winters (studded usually) - it's illegal to use summer tyres here in winter time (usually from nov./dets. to may).
