Superb FL v Merc HGV

Featured Replies

Not a happy bunny tonight, on route home through Prague then got stuck in traffic. I was stuck in a two lane traffic jam with outside lane filtering into my lane.

Side by side with a HGV and it seems he forgot to check his front blind spot mirror.

nudge nudge - my 8month face life which didn't have a single mark on it now has a nice little dent and a few scratches.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that Scott.

Noooo! Such a sad sight!

How did he miss that, not like the Superb is a small car...

Hope you get it mended soon!

Cheers,

Car booked in for Monday, 4 or 5 day repair, new bumper, new back quarter and full check of parking sensors. The cheeky fecker of a truck drier wanted to give me 700quid to forget it, Skoda estimate 4k worth of damage.

Some more daylight photos - doesnt look much, but it hurts me more to see the car like this.

Not good news Scott, at least you're getting it done in a Skoda dealer.

'Tis but a fleshwound...she'll be shipshape in no time!

That's ridiculous if that's 4K worth of damage.

That's the top end price - max!

someone hit me in October - i was parked, she reversed into the side of me, just in front of the front wheel - she tipped the headlight down, scuffed the bumper and just kinked the end of the wing in - that was £1400 - and there was no new parts, apart from a touch up of paint on the bumper!

My recent incident with a foreign lorry driver is off to the courts as the 3rd party insurer is refusing to pay the repair costs of my Superb Combi as they say they are far too high. At least my insurer has absolved me of all responsibility and thereby not affecting my NCD, but it does seem Superbs are costly to repair. This will ultimately affect insurance rates in the UK.

I got a quote on a new bumper + colour match, which was £720 incl VAT.  That included a repair to a very small ding in the tailgate.

Sorry for offtopic, but do you feel big difference from 18' - talking about ride comfort of bad roads?

To be honest the roads here in Prague a generally good, a few pot holes but nothing major. The ride seems the same maybe a little comfy but nothing much. Fuel wise there is also a little difference, but not much, maybe as i drive with my right foot to the floor a lot. But i must say i drove in the Czech mountains a few weeks ago and them dunlop sport winter tires are fantastic and stick like glue.

But cant wait til March to get my 18's back on her.

She goes into the workshop on Monday, the garage wanted to give me a Citigo as a replacement, i kicked up such a stink i now have a Audi A6 Estate for a week...... :-)

It is so interesting how you find A6 in comparision to Superb. When I was choosing my Superb - I had an option to have A6, but only with FWD and 180HP petrol engine and with no extras. And I was still the only one from the company who chosen Skoda ;)

Before the Superb i was driving Highline Passat and i have to say i do not lower standard in the finishes of things in the Superb comparing to the Passat so i expect an even bigger gap with the Audi. But performance wise the Superb is much tighter than the Passat was, so bring on the Audi.

I too would have been gutted, fortunately it looks to be an easy repair (not really the point though)

It’s a damn site smaller than the Merc though... and in his blind spot, so it is pretty easy TBH to ‘loose’ a car.

Not making excuses for the truck driver, but along side his cab is the worst place for a car to be seen.

So the car went away this morning, the Skoda garage called this afternoon to confirm that the repair will take longer than a week due to the replacing the back quarter rather than repairing it, plus a new bumper and new parking sensors in the rear.

Lets hope it looks are new as it did when returned.

So i got the car delivered back last Friday, 2 full weeks to repair her. Total costs for the repair was 76,000czk, which is roughly 2.5k GBP.

Must say i am happy with the repair, still looking to see if i can see any indifference's, but so far none.
