Phone box...does this mean I have the Bluetooth option?

Featured Replies

As I bought my car pre-built (a cancelled order) I never manually selected the options. The car had every option I wanted so was great.

I've got the phone box in front of the gear stick and I'm wondering if this means I have the Bluetooth booster option fitted because of this. Is there a way to know for definite or does the phone box = Bluetooth booster when the phone is in it?

Cars a vrs diesel if that makes a difference.

Thanks

If you dont have nav but you have the puck antenna on the roof like with nav cars or it also had a phone handset symbol on the cubby lid then you'll have bluetooth +. Not something alot of people spec, operationally offers nothing other than an amplified external GSM connection.

On my car I'm sure the phone logo is stamped onto the material inside the cubby hole, also there's slightly less space in there compared to a car without 'bluetooth+' (why did they call it bluetooth+!!!!! It's nothing to do with Bluetooth!).

Also, when you connect the phone to the car's bluetooth system, you'll see signal strength show up on your stereo, moving the phone in and out should show a difference in signal over time as long as you don't do it too quickly.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I have a external antenna or a logo on the box so guessing not.

I just thought the box was for the phones Bluetooth+ and was an open space if not equipt.

Nah the box has a lid no matter.

I'd hoped you'd have noticed a black aerial on the roof of your car! It's only there if you have sat-nav or bluetooth+ as the radio/DAB aerials are built I to the rear side glass. Or they are on the combi.

Still a rubbish name as it's nowt to do with bluetooth!

Just to be clear, the phone box is there with every bluetooth option (regardless of whether you have the signal booster variant or not).

It's possible to order an Octavia with no bluetooth connectivity at all, in which case the phone box isn't there.

Not in the UK it's isn't, it's standard on the whole range.  We only get the phone box with bluetooth+, otherwise it's just a storage compartment with a sliding lid.

Sorry, I'll rephrase.

The storage compartment with the sliding lid in front of the gear lever comes with all bluetooth variants (regardless of whether you have the signal booster). Skoda also builds Octavias with no bluetooth connectivity at all, in which case the sliding lid isn't there.
