Collection day, lane assist error

Featured Replies

Well today was the day I got my hands on the new toy. Drove from Germany to Brighton last night did the handover this morning and hit the road to manchester. Exceptionally happy and glad I stuck it out with the waiting time. Everything is tickety boo apart from the lane assist. I get an error message. Anyone familiar with this.

Silver vrs tdi combi DSG

ACC, Kessy, park assist, power boot, eddy sat nav, winter pack, full leather, col maxi, towbar, full spare.

Pics to follow but I should be getting ready to go out for the long haired generals birthday right now.

I probably won't be the first person to state/ write this...

What error message appears, what does the manual say and how abysmal was the weather on the way up there?

Off topic completely - that's the first time I ever wrote "abysmal".

I'm 44.

It just says "lane assist error". The book says consult a tech and the weather was four seasons in one day. On a sad note I did see a meteor grey VRS Combi on the back of an RAC truck on the M6 (South of Birmingham). And a happy note ACC is a dream with DSG, I think I'm getting lazy.

I'll take a look at the error tomorrow - a wild guess would be calibration related, but a reboot of the controller may sort it out.

Did you order a left hand dive car from the UK?

If so how easy was it to do?

I was considering doing the same as the prices in Switzerland are higher than back home.

Or you ordered a standard uk spec car?

Cheers Andy.

It's a right hand drive tax free due to serving in Germany gabbo. Still good for coming home back to blighty storms or not.

Glad to report that thanks to andyvee the issue has been fixed. It was an incorrect coding issue.

Now I'm off to sit at the window opening and closing the boot with my key. ????

Dealers fitting trailer control modules and not doing all the coding LOL.

If anyone is fitting a towbar and has a lane assist camera, there is one bit needs enabling on the A5 camera as well to tell it that a Trailer control module is fitted. It is documented in VCDS, so shouldn't be an issue to find.

Lol, it's nice to see briskoda members being able to do what the dealers can't!

Edit: Nipani, photos or it didn't happen! :P

I shall add photos when I'm back in Germany at the weekend. In need of a good wash. First 400 miles done 95% grotty motorway miles.

Very true about our fellow briskoda member. First class service.

I dreaded going to a dealer it's not worth the pain.

Hi. I have just had a towbar fitted and my lane assist is now showing an error. Is it safe to assume that this a setting that the installer has messed up. I have noticed that when my trailer is connected and i use the indicators, the trailer indicator light shows on the dash which I think is correct. However when I select reverse with the traler connected the park assist still operates as well which I thought should be disabled. Can anyone advise me please.

It was a coding issue with the A5 camera not being told a towbar was fitted. Very quick fix with vcds. As for the parking sensors I too was led to believe these were deactivated when a trailer was fitted but as I discovered during a test drive yesterday this is not the case and they bleep like mad.

Nipani. Thanks for the info. I know that when the park pilot activates, I can manually disable it on the touch screen, however I wanted to check on others thoughts. I will call the installation company on monday.

Off topic now. ANDYVEE are you located in the central scotland area ????

No problem.

Answer to your question ANDYVEE is in Lancashire.

Thanks.

FFS, they didn't code the parking sensors either for the trailer module?

Nipani, I would be asking for some money back on the towbar install. Bunch of amateurs!

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Coding the A5 camera is fairly simple for the towbar, I'll look up the details and post, but it is documented in VCDS which bit needs enabling.

Does the power boot open up from the key? My dealer doesn't know.

Thanks

Dave

Turboman6680 the boot does open from the key but by default doesn't close. But a small tweak on VCDS sorts that out and also if you want disables the in your face warning tone.

I spoke to them today and it's pretty much an oversight during the PDI. Just my luck but it's something you don't really know about until you test drive a trailer. Basically it's now my responsibility to find a dealer explain its a Skoda fitting and get it sorted all without getting lost in translation. This should be fun. As for the money you spend the best part of almost £500 and find it's not fit for purpose, it does make you wonder considering it's there bread and butter but also it could be the dealer not finishing off the install (VCDS). Let's point the finger at each other.

I will see how quickly I get this resolved. Dreading it.

Are you back in Germany now?

Yes. Just my luck but it was something I couldn't test till I got home.

OK - if you can wait let me know when you are next over.

If Skoda hook up to VAS they might wipe out all the tweaks and set it back to how it left the factory, unless you tell them to leave well alone!

I will bear that in mind. That would be the icing one the cake if that happened. I'm gonna pop into the local dealer and ask the question. As far as I'm aware there using VCDS because there is only one guy who deals with changing over fog lights for us lot from what I've been told the rest are clueless. If there is any risk to them screwing everything up I will wait till I'm home and pop up.

  • 11 months later...

Picked up my new-to-me approved used vRS Estate (with Columbus, Canton & Boot Assist) on Tuesday.  When I went to switch the lane assist on yesterday to try it out, it said "function not available"…  Obviously I'd take it to Skoda to fix, but thought I'd have a look with VCDS in case it was a quick fix.

Anyway, after spending a few hours in the car coding the towbar prep (which I though would fix it), I have successfully enabled traffic sign recognition, high beam assist etc etc - but the lane asset fault remains!

I have an error in the A5 module - error 1114112 data bus - missing message...

Can anyone let me know their A5 coding?

andyvee - any tips? You seem to be the resident guru!

Many thanks in advance.
