Anybody seen a Race Blue VRS with chrome trim?

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anybody seen any links or got any piccies of a VRS in Race Blue with the Chrome trim? Just wondering what it looks like compared to the black pack?

Well it's only the grille surround that's chrome in the UK and it's doesn't really suit the car, plus it makes it look like an ex-demo as they were blue without black pack.

Personally I think the chrome sets off the blue better.

But that'll be why I left the standard grille on my Fabia VRS SE in Race Blue, where quite a few people felt the need to colour them black or carbon.

I've not got black pack as swmbo didn't like the idea of gloss roof rails.

I like it. There's pics in the following thread

Many thanks gullyg, looks nice in my opinion, hope my hatch looks as good.

I agree Boss, and the thought of spending £100 just for a bit of black plastic seemed a bit of an ask, considering I was already paying £23k for the car.  I am a bit tight when it comes to options, I prefer only those that will add value when I come to sell it (i.e spare wheel, metallic paint, iPod conectivity and cruise).

No options add value when it's comes to selling, the only thing they can do is make it more desirable to someone who's after specific options.  But then I wouldn't pay all that money for a new car just its more desirable to someone else when I sell it.

If you are making something more desirable to a potential purchaser then you are indeed adding value to the product.

However, in the case a a second hand car you do have to consider depreciation.  Perhaps my statement of adding value might have been a bit of a misnomer.

It all comes down to personal preference, and whilst I can appreciate some prefer chrome, my own opinion is that black looks much more sporty and better befits the VRS profile. Most sports cars use black or carbon fiber effect over chrome nowadays.   I guess this is the reason why most of the press shots show VRS's fully black packed, with chrome not being an option in some countries.

Black should however be a "free option" within the UK because the parts clearly cost no more (and probably cost less) to produce.

Don't know if this will help, but I added the black grill after I bought it, so here's photos 'before and after' (apologies for the quality in the first pic)

Just what I was looking for, thanks

Ooh, nice pics CharleyB. My black vRS combi with tints is due on the 1st March, I swithered over the black pack and ended up with the chrome grill but I'd be interested to know how much the black grill costs + fitting? It didn't occur to me it could be retro fitted!

D'oh...!

You can get the grill surround and mirror covers from superskoda (grill surround 65 euros plus P&P). But to do the surround properly you have to remove the front bumper, which is a right royal pain or you can (gently) use a screwdriver and prise the old chrome surround out, but this will break/snap the chrome surround and it all becomes a bit 'Heath Robinson'. I chose the latter and was 'lucky' enough not to damage the rest of the car so it can be done, its just not a job for the faint hearted!

Thanks, not a job for me then!

I asked my Skoda dealer when I picked my car up .. he quoted me £160 to put it on via taking off bumper..ouch....

It still in its box...
