It should be the other way around given the price of diesel.

Hmmmm , not convinced by some of those savings.

The 2.0tdi Octy for example is now 16,300 with a 350 quid saving , but they had only put the price up by 250 quid three weeks ago. :finger:

Can anyone remember how much the petrol models went up before their 700 "saving"?

But why? If your looking for a reliable car that has all the comforts then why opt for a lesser spec'd car just because of the badge?

3 Years ago I had an E280T Advantguarde' date=' I opted to downsize to an A4 Avant 1.9TDi Sport, I have now chosen to go for The Octy II L&K fully loaded with options.

There is still snobbery surrounding marque and it will always be there, just mention Ford on many VAG forums and you will find that the swearword filter blocks it! (only kidding but I'm sure you know what I mean).

For me the badge now plays very little part in my decision, it's about the quality oan performace of the car and the Octy II won me over tis time round![/quote']

Don't get me wrong,I love my skoda and skodas generally.

Just as an honest point,if I had a genuine

Part of the problem is that Skoda is supposed to be VWs "budget" brand.

Also we come to expect value for money....we want more but are not prepared to pay for it.

As example you couldn't get anything that compared to the original RS....peformance, economy, toys, cost.

If the new RS manages to keep the same blend then it'll be a winner....

If Skoda were the be all and end all of motor vehicles everyone would own one. yeah there are badge snobs but not everyone is.

people dont just buy a car on reliability. yeah skoda is good but its not as good as japanese cars, so why did you not buy one of them??

Skodas depreciate faster than othe VAG cars too, its not just a simple Skoda are the best VAG car end of story!

everything from style, comfort, personal taste, ride, build quality etc etc etc is important to me.

my audi was alot more expensive than my octy but i considered it to be worth it iMO and its my money im spending.

no matter what car you buy its down to the individuals opinion hence why the world isnt driving just Skodas or Fords etc

I had four cars on my shortlist when I was ready to change. The Octy2 Tdi elegance estate fully specced up, The Honda Accord diesel estate, the Previous model 3 series 320d estate or the new passat. Drove all but the new Passat and took a lot of factors into account. The deal at the Skoda garage was the worst, almost a "take it or leave it" attitude and if you want one it will take 4 months. the Honda was ok to drive but not that great, styling was not to my liking and I knew that in true japanese fashion it will be revamped every year rendering your current car obsolete. the BMW run out model) was just too expensive when a few toys were thrown in. The Passat just looks terrible. so I bought the Octy. The Octy 2 estate is still scarce enough to stand out in the car park,is not going to change much in the next 3 years and in my opinion will go up in price due to greater brand popularity and growing image. I reckon that I spent

i had an octy vRS as my previous car

so if badges didnt count would everyone drive an octavia? or fabia?

My previous car was a '02 Passat 130 tdi sport . Audi was struck off my list simply due to price and snooty salesmen at local dealership.

Tried costing equivelant A4 estate to Octy2 estate with all the extras and stopped counting at 26 grand!!.A fortune to me but a mere trifle to the sharp suited salesman who only takes you seriously if you are splashing out on a A6 or a beautiful TT.

i think my main point is that skoda and there cars are very good value but the are not the be all and end all of motoring. im not driving a skoda because of a simple reason.... i found a 9 month old car that was miles better than my octy, simple as that.

nothing to do with badges etc. from my experience skoda has its problems just as any other car maker, within reason. i would definately own another but at the moment im delighted with my new car and havent looked back once. the same will go for anyone else who buys a car they like wether its a ford, bmw or mrec.

cars appeal to individuals tastes and this is what made me buy all of my preveous cars

I agree Kenny - I was quite happy to drive a Skoda (who cares what badge it has on it), but my needs changed and Skoda didn't offer as good a car as Ford for what I wanted (decent power, handling, economy and plenty of toys!) so they lost out. Can't say I'm regretting my decision at all ;)

Hi

I have have had my elegance 2.0 TDI for about a month now and am well pleased, purchased with my own money. I previously had a 2nd hand Passat TDI sport for 3 1/2 years - this I purchased for 10k after my local skoda dealer wouldn't do me a good deal on the trade in at the time. I really liked the car and ran it to 120k miles - very reliable (apart from the aircon unit which blew up and cost

I reckon that I spent
I feel sorry for you, come trade-in time. The Skoda badge fanatics also need to take off their blinkers. Anything over 17.5K for the new vRS will be too much. There is simply too much other GOOD stuff out there (and coming soon) to allow the Skoda to stand out. At

I like my Skoda and have no problem with the badge however if I had to buy a new car there's not one in the current Skoda line-up that I would choose.

my dad recently traded in his nearly 4 year old A4 quattro. it retained over 55% of its value
