Trying to be something it's not

Featured Replies

There used to be a stealthy v10 M5 de badged cruising around west London a few years ago. I like the 'ring stickers that on closer inspection read "Neverbeen".

I did see a Superb a while back with VRS badges on it.

Too many damn badges on these cars.

I went to quite some lengths to de badge mine.

Removed S3 badge from rear of car leaving just normal centre chrome Audi rings.

Changed grille to an A3 blackline grille (S3 grille has a front S3 badge mounting point and

different coloured slats with chrome trims)

Also replaced the trademark S/RS silver mirrors with body coloured boggo covers.

It certainly doesn't seem to attract the attention of the local barryboys contingent anymore

like it did immediately after I bought it when it was as it left the factory badging/grille/mirrors wise.

being black it's quite non descript and it just looks like a nice clean black Audi A3. ;)

I did almost have a moment when I was hunting for an S3 and nearly did a deal on a Solar orange one

with aftermarket reupholstered matching orange and contrasting black leather inside with fancy orange

stitching.  Tons of options etc etc  It was quite striking, but in the end I took the tamer choice and kept

the black theme going. If I had bought the orange one, I reckon I'd have a trier on every journey.

Unfortunately there's currently still logos on the sill protectors, steering wheel, instrument display

near rev counter and gear knob and  S3 badges on the caliper spring clips which are soon to be going.

I have some plain black Caliper clips from a 3.2 quattro for the front brakes next time they're being

worked on so debadged calipers to come soon as well.

I think an A3 1,4 badge would be fun.

Excellent work; my kinda Audi!

I came across an x5 with a few extra M badges yesterday. Apparently, if whoever added the badge on the boot is to be believed, it shared it's designation with a mazda sports car.

Oh dear God! Wish you'd got a photo of that....

I also wanted to stop this chap and have a chat...

Cheesus. One wonders why Audi feel the need to put quite so many logos all over everything. Can they not rely on the owner to remember what car they own unless the S badge is visible in some way every 30 seconds? :D

Badge on the boot is fine - maybe on the wheel or seats as well if it's something a bit 'special'. But really? Fair play to you for getting rid though!

No photo because it was 1992 and the coach I was on was passing it at 30mph (it was parked, or possibly broken down) but I once saw a Trabant "501 Twin Turbo Intercooler 16 Valve Water Injection" in Germany.

BMW charge you extra if you want your car de-badged from the factory :D

It is a "no cost" option there is NO extra charge.

Somewhat perversely I quite like the idea of an RS6 rebadged as a Superb.

Must have changed it then. Last time I checked the configuration it was £20 odd to remove the badge

I guess that would make some sense though. On the factory floor with hundreds of cars in production with a badge it would require intervention to tell someone/some computer NOT to add the badges, hence cost. Not intervening = no cost = just add the badge.

Fair play if it's now free!

I wouild like a RS6 engined debadged Superb

I'll put my hands up, as in the past I have changed the badge on the Renault 5 GTL.... also the next car I had I think the previous owner had gone to strange lengths to convince folk Porsche had something to do with the engine on a Seat Ibiza...

Wait... what?

I just put an M3 bumper on a non M3

:o

One of the best must be the F355 conversion on a MR2!
