Power to Parrot handsfree

Featured Replies

Hi All

Having problem with parrot handsfree, Had unit fitted by phone company and they plugged the power cable for the parrot into one of the spare fuse points on the fuse box to the right hand side of the drivers wheel. while this worked fine for the parrot handsfree, it didnt for the boot motors approx a week or so after fitting, (I couldnt open the boot at all). a VCDS showed that only 9volts went to the boot motors - not enough for them as 12 is needed as I was told.. I disconnected the parrot, disconnected the battery under the bonnet, then reconnected the battery again - this reset the car, hence the boot worked fine again.

I have no handsfree parrot kit now and I'm asking if anyone knows where on the car could I get power for the handsfree without draining it from somewhere else. I tried getting power from the back of the cigarette lighter but the parrot stays on constantly as the ligher is live always.

thanks N.P

Ok, how did the connect it?? Scotch locked??

I use to do installs as a living for a few years.

You need to go down the fuse box with a multimeter & find a correct switched live. You can use a spare, and blade off it, or find a point in the fuse box that has a 14.4v switched live and put a fuse in place with a tail on it. (I think it's on the bottom line 3rd in from the left?? Think it has a purple wire to it - and that's going by memory!!!???)

Try this eBay item number 150904699664

Sounds like they've used a piggy back fuse.

Spend £30-40 on a proper Élan Intellimute with the correct lead with the correct looms for the Quadlock and Parrot and it'll be completely plug and play. The Élan stuff simulates a switched live.

thanks for your replies on this topic, I'll look into both options. the main thing is that I dont draw the power again from the boot motors.

I'm trying to load a jpeg to show you what was wired for the parrot, any ideas to load one up. thanks
