  • Pimp my yeti.... that looks ridiculous  IMO   I wonder if the range topping Fabia in Mk iii guise will just be  the Monte Carlo. same engines, just more wolves clothing.

  • Surprising how many have turned towards motorbikes for "Fun".   I've turned the same way too, even when we bought my wife's BMW our thoughts were you are sat in the same traffic 95% of the time whet

For George - the Monte Carlo has sold well - Auto Express says so (surprised they didn't attach and artist's impression...).

Interestingly, you only get the red interior gubbins on the red Montes - other colours don't get that.  And I have a black roof.

Wot the red stiching on the steering wheel hand brake and gear shift gater...?? thought all monte's had this all the different colour ones I've seen n test drove have all had that......even the shiny primer ones.......if ur on about the red onyx seat colours then I've also head from the dealer that other than red cars u could get the red onyx seats on black monte's and white monte's but none else

My white monte has red stitching

LOL,

Auto Express repeat what Skoda tell them.

They are given a press release.

They sold well in the UK if under 6,000 in 3 years is good,

& 2000 sold in the UK last year out of 32,000 Fabias of which 800 were vRS.

& they had to introduce the Tech Editions to get that many Montes Sold.

It is called Marketing Talk.

Alasdair Stewart Brand Director Skoda UK likes that, some call it Spin.

We will await the new Emotional & Squat Fabia MK3,

What will have them sell well will be if they get the price right.

?? What has a S2000 Rally Car being successful got to do with them selling Cars in the UK

if all they produce is Front Wheel drive Fabias with 105 ps.

Hopefully they might bring them self to turn out something with 150 ps.

Like they are with Ibizas & Polos.

So an ACT engine.

Pimp my yeti.... that looks ridiculous  IMO

Has something yet again been lost in translation in that press release,

or just not worth a mention.

Skoda UK's best Seller the Fabia MK2 is about to be discontinued,

& a New Model MK3 to be unveiled at Geneva,

For Launch late 2014 or early 2015.

Or did i miss that bit in the Auto Express article.

So it looks like no mention yet of a Mk3 Maybia Monte Carlo.

So really the article boils down to.

"Skoda introduces some new trim levels."

And doesn't the 1.8TSi usally get a 7 speed dry clutch DSG?

Usual Auto Express garbage.

The Fabia3 won't be at Geneva. Expect photos in the summer, launch at the Frankfurt motorshow in September and on sale in the UK shortly after that.

Skoda are going to do body styles on the new fabia III like the monte so not to bring out a vrs version as the monte sold more

Skoda has lost it's balls.

No Citigo vrs (UP GT)

No uprated short term Fabia Monte Carlo (130/150 BHP)

No extra uumph Rapid /Spaceback.                  "

In short no REAL FUN anymore in owning a small Skoda hatch!!

All tarted up but no guts!!

Not sure about the Citygo Monte, just looks like the Sport and the Yeti looks a bit iffy as well with those wheels on, they just don't suit it.

Not enough people wanting to buy a REAL FUN small Skoda hatch that's why Skoda aren't planning to make a hot hatch Fabia, Rapid or Citygo.

Maybe if the new Fabia is a success then they might change their minds but VAG have plenty of hot hatches in their stable as it is without adding more.

Not only VAG, Small fun hatch category is saturated and some truly excellent examples out there.

Under fun you can have funky or trendy or sporty with superb handling.

Funky and Trendy the small Skoda's are not and the Fabia and Rapid wont have superb handling and composed ride on the current ageing platform. Sure they were a bargain at 20% off. But at full £17k price a Fabia vRS or Fiesta ST? drive both and there is a difference so wide it's not funny.

Only those wanting space and 5 doors would rule out the ST and unfortunately for Skoda that markets very small.

Cheers

What hot hatches do VAG have for under £15,000 ? (or even £17,000)

SEAT prices are getting too high,

& depreciation is the big SEAT problem.

VAG are away to add several Hot Hatches for over £20,000,

Their 20 grand plus Polo GTI & Audi A1 185 ps Twinchargers were twice & 4 times as big sales flops as the vRS has been.

I don't think it's going to be called the Monte Carlo range or wot ever, but it'll just have the Monte trim package without the badge.....which I think will be very smart it'll probably be something like the DS range with Citroen

The CEO Dr Winifried Vahland seems very proud on the Monte Carlo name.

For some reason he thinks it some how connects to the Motorsport Heritage,

even though the car that won a rally only resembles a Fabia in looks.

He is the guy that has been signing off designs since 2010, including the vRS that has not sold well.

You might think by now VAG would have punted him.

But maybe VW give him a big Up!.

Maybe he does not get out much and see what other Manufacturers do,

he thinks Decals and Stripes are still sporty.

"Stick some bigger wheels and low profile tyres on.

Do not bother with better suspension or brakes, they will never notice.

Just make it pull left, they drive on the left over there".

Isn't that what most manufacturers do though, sell cars on the strength of their Motorsport routes, credentials, heritage or whatever you want to call it.

Not everyone what's to win the traffic light Grand Prix, if a car looks half decent then it should sell in sufficient numbers, most of us don't live out in the sticks where their commute to work is on deserted B roads.

Most want a car that starts and stops when you want it to, has a few creature comforts, is quiet, reliable and cheap enough to buy and

run.

We keep getting back to it has not sold in half decent numbers its sold twice as many as the vRS that never sold enough.

Skoda is full of Kidology.

The Techs are selling well because they are good value, & look decent.

Full price Monte Carlos even with a discount are not a cheap car.

If Skoda just does the Value thing it works.  Nearly half Skoda UK sales are Fabias.

66,000 Skoda sold last year in the UK and that is not many Top Yeti or Superb, and

the Octavia 3 vRS and others gave them a boost.

We need to wait and see, but middle of the road good value seems to be where Skoda needs to be.

Sounds to me you never ever experienced the fun and grunt of the original Fabia vRS MK1.

Hence the frustration that persists ! in what could be.

Without being a Boy racer at the lights.

There's no frustration at all, I just don't get my speed kicks from cars any more.

Had motorbikes for years where there's no comparison between a GSXR750 and a Fabia Mk1 oil burner or Mk2 oil burner that shouldn't.

I do a 15 mile round trip to work where it doesn't matter what car I drive, there's plenty of hot hatches out there so don't get too hung up on the fact they might never make a Fabia vRS again, buy something else.

I've had company cars with a lot more grunt than a Fabia Mk1 so I think your looking at Fabia vRSs through rose tinted goggles.

I dont see anyone worrying about no more vRS or a replacement of it, you just buy a used one.

There are not many cheap, nippy, fun, new, 5 door, automatics tho.

Choice of Hatch or Estate,

The Clio Turbo is a Depreciation disaster, and not much use as an actual 5 door,

no rear passenger space.

Alfa Romeo with TCT is OK.

So its Seat for a car with DSG, unless Skoda do something slightly more nippy.

I think they will.

150 PS is quite enough as far as i am concerned with a Light car.

Surely the Mk3 Fabia will handle OK, they have had long enough to think about it.

Lets hope the Suspension , Steering and braking has had more design time spent

on them, rather than just on how the Badges look..

To be honest I didn't buy our Monte because I thought it was fast, we bought our car because it looks great, if I want to go fast I've got a 1200 cc bike for just the job ;)

Yep, this annoys me so much.  Fair enough they've got to reduce emmisions etc. but that shouldn't result in not offering a semi powerful model that some people will want to buy.  If VW and SEAT can still do this, why not Skoda?

The whole ethos of 'people don't want a fast car but only want the looks' just makes me want to :wall:

"All show and no go" is just undoing the good work they made with the mk 1 fabia vRS. If everyone is just rolling around in Monte Carlo edition skodas (no offence owners!) then Skoda isn't going to stand out like it used to.  People will learn to look at them and realise they have no guts to them at all.

Not doing the reputation of Monte Owners much good chaps :giggle:
