Octy Remote Central Locking

Featured Replies

I've just noticed that when locking & unlocking the car the fairly loud and solid sound of the rcl doing it's thing was sounding a bit muffled. Took a closer look and found that that when unlocking only the rear doors would unlock and it required a second or third button press to unlock the fronts. Same in reverse when locking the car. Everything seems fine when using the key it's just that the doors aren't synchronised (for want of a better word).

The car is approx. 18 months old. Any thoughts? A dodgy battery in the remote perhaps?

Sound more like a problem in the 'receiver' end of things to me. If it was a dodgy battery then all of the doors would exhibit the same problem. Big K or Skodaw care to shed any further light?

If it can receive a signal then the remote , battery and receiver are all fine.

It will be a mechanical problem with the solenoids in the front doors.

sounds like a central locking control unit problem to me

easy to replace if a skoda dealer !

K, why do I get a warm fuzzy feeling that you are the sort of guy who can cope with jobs rated 5 spanners in a Haynes manual?

Are they those spanners with a long shaft and a lump of metal on the end. Otherwise known as metric knockometers?

(only kidding! :D)

An additional problem has appeared. When either of the front doors are open the door open symbol on the dash flickers off and on - along with the interior light and the safety light in the door accompanied by a clicking noise (relay perhaps?) from behind the dash. When driving this clicking/switching noise (sounds like the indicators only quieter) can be heard from behind the dash again.

Booked into the dealers for next week.
