Do any other cars share the same DPF as a Yeti 170 ?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Does anyone know if other models in the VAG range share the same DPF part no as a Yeti CR170 ?

Or anywhere I could look up part nos ?

Cheers...

...or whether other diesel engined Yetis have the same DPF as a 170 ?

Are you having a fault?

Nope :)

Just planning ahead for when I get my Yeti and get it tweaked. IE whether to gut the internals of the existing DPF, leaving me without a functional one I could refit, or whether to buy a used (possibly knackered) one, and gut that - leaving me with the original to refit if I wanted. If I chose the latter route, was wondering whether I could broaden my search for parts from another VAG vehicle.

And before anyone asks, yes I fully understand what the DPF does, all the implications of removing it's function, MOT stuff, etc etc.

Just after parts number info :D

I don't think there are as many DPF issues as many are lead to believe.

I think the fear factor and headline price tag of a new DPF is self fueling the removal business.

I tend to agree, my dads Fabia greenline with DPF has covered just 30K miles in 5 years. Never had any DPF issues, although he did have the pressure sensor fail thats all. He only drives it round town, only when I visit him once a month does the car get over 60mph for any length of time. 90% of the time its driven at 30-40mph to the shops and back and never gets fully warm.

I'm not concerned about reliability; it's solely for the purposes of performance (Stage 2 remap) and improved economy.

Stage 1 gives around 205bhp and loads more torque.

Stage 2 only adds about 15bhp.

It's not worth removing the DPF and pumping out all that harmful crud for a minor performance gain IMO.

That's why I won't take my CR170 past stage 1.
I have children in or around the car and personally feel it's irresponsible.

If you want to tune it a lot, buy a petrol.

How much us the stage one at shark bossfox ?

Andy, Shark do the CR170 for £499 (- 10% Freedom discount so £450)

Mine was done by Jabbasport.

Since then it's done over 20k miles including track days (where I do push a bit) and plenty of towing.

Been completely faultless.

I assume the DPF will be the same as the Superb CR170 one?

Not sure, which is why I wondered if anyone was able to check part numbers.

The shape & routing of the pipework looks like it might be quite bespoke to the shape of the Yeti engine compartment - I would guess there's a bit more room behind a Superb engine, so could be a slightly different setup.

I have seen a couple of Yeti DPFs on Ebay, around the £300 mark.

Probably with the internals removed. I would'nt pay £300 for an empty can.

No that £300-ish is for working parts removed by salvage yards.
