Oops, this morning I noticed a cc self cancel again, exactly the same way.

Motorway, sunny, no wind, no braking, no cancel hitting, etc. (I'm 100% sure).

The update was done 5000-6000 kms before and this was the only one since then.

Hopefully the issue won't start again...but in the worst case I can live with one self cancel per 5000 km

So the new SW is not perfect...maybe really a beta version.

I'll drop a mail to my dealer about it.

Did they do the other 2 cars in your fleet, Aki?  Have they been OK?

I have just returned from France, 400 miles both ways. And it looks like the Skoda software upgrade seems to have worked!!

Which makes me very happy. Thanks for all your advice guys.

Further to my post of 2nd June, the CC warning light has got progressively worse, coming on every time now so that CC has finally died. Car went into main dealers today for the fault and was told there was outstanding Recall on the vehicle (thanks to my lease company for not telling me). The investigation report says W1 - outcome on CC fault requires new column switch as per recall(!). W2 - outcome of recall requires new switch as above - W-Steering column switch 94H3 ordered. It's back in next week to be fitted.

This seems obviously different to suspected software fault that others are discussing but was anyone aware of a recall for the column switch.

Your problem description is different to the original posts from Aki & SH.

They reported that cruise control drops out during driving. There was no warning light.

 

As I replied to your previous post, if there is a warning light, there will be a fault code which logged so the dealer should be able to identify the problem easily.

Did you not take it to the dealer to get it checked out?

 

The problem with faulty cruise control switches is well known in other threads & I believe Skoda are now recalling all cars which might be affected with this & the DSG software update which affected the other cars in this thread.

However, I would ask the dealer to explain which fault codes are logged & what they do to repair your car.

People experiencing problems with faulty switches usually complain that cruise control will operate without the button being pressed (accelerating or turning on when not desired).

In the posts I have read there wern't any problems with CC warning lights which may suggest your problem is different.

 

Do you also have the glow-plug lamp or MIL lamp illuminated?

Thanks for comments. Was unable to concentrate on car problem due to family illness and bereavement but now back in the saddle and on to the dealer. Car goes back in next week so will question dealer on fault codes, solution and exactly what the recall notice was. Being a lease car, I'm not always in direct contact with dealer but will be taking and collecting the car myself next week so will be asking questions!

No, there are no other warning lights showing or any other apparent problems

Car went back into dealers last week. New "steering column switch" fitted as per advised recall and hey presto, my cruise control problem seems to be fixed. Have done 1000 miles since with no problem. The service receptionist, although very efficient and polite in her job, was completely non-technical and you would get more info talking to a brick wall. The only info I could get was that the steering column switch recall was a very recent recall, no doubt those with more insight can find the recall details. So, if you have an intermittent cruise control problem on a new-ish Octy III then check for recalls.
