Never throw anything away...

Featured Replies

So, got the dreaded "continuous beep" again today.  One of the sensors which was replaced under warranty two years ago had failed again.  I kept the part the garage swapped out last time, and lo-and-behold it is now functioning again with the old part - perhaps with a bit of time it has dried out.

Anyhow, I guess my "success" may be shortlived, and I see now that a lot of replacement Superb sensors have come up one fleabay now for (almost) sensible money... has anyone tried these?  They look like they fit but I'm not sure they are genuine parts - I think they could be pattern parts made for the Chinese Passat?

There are two different sorts - one with a yellow top with some extra mouldings on:

And one that looks basically identical to what has come off the car:

I know I should really rip the set out and fit something else, but replacing a single sensor is a 5 minute job (including tea) whereas it will probably waste an afternoon fitting an aftermarket kit.

From someone who spent an afternoon in the sun replacing them with a £12 aftermarket kit.....I've never looked back.

+1

Fit 'em and forget 'em.  I prefer the sound of the £12 kit too.
