Pcv question

Featured Replies

I've a 2007 vrs tfsi and I have the symptoms of a failing PCV.

After reading countless threads about the bloody things I have decided to replace it tomorrow. My question is that I believe there are 2 PCV , one on the back of the engine and one on the cam cover .Is this correct or am I mistaken?

once the engine cover is off it's pretty much the first thing you'll see, it's on the top/front of the engine.

Once you have the replacement part you'll spot it straight away

Earlier cars (up to 2007 I think so yours will be right on the border, might need to check with your dealer, or just take the engine cover off to check!) had just the front PCV, part no. 06F 129 101 N. Later cars (07+) also have an extra valve on the back, part no. 06F 129 101 P + 06F 103 215 B.

Getting the engine cover off is the only awkward bit of changing it!

Edit: although I'm not actually sure if you *need* to replace the rear valve when you replace the main front one.

Thanks very much for the info guys :) ,mine is a 56 plate 2007 but I phoned Tps (who didn't have a clue ) and said they are sending a pcv ending in "N" and couldn't see any other one so hopefully this will sort a few issues after replacing the DV ,4x R8 coils,Coolant sensor, plugs, service, timing belt and water pump, clutch and flywheel, battery and two tires lol.Done a lot more fun stuff like BSH intake and milltek but the performance improvement fund keeps getting hammered by the list of things that keep going wrong :(

Sorry, please ignore, thought the post said PVC :bandit:

Think that sort of topic would be for "specialist sites" ;) or maybe there is a section on here somewhere that I haven't found yet?

Well I fitted the new pcv and it pull smoother now but wouldn't say its any faster.Should I have fitted a new rubber gasket when I fitted it? It didn't have any tears that I could see.

What were the symptoms exactly? Did they disappear with the new PCV?

There is oil coming out the dv, it had flat spots and is down on low down power.after 5000rpm it seems to go fine.

Now the flat spots are a lot less but its still low on power :(

Did you check real-time boost logs (expected vs actual) before doing the PVC? Could it be that the Forester in the signature makes the Octavia feel 'low on power'? :)

I did log it the best I could on vcds and actual was way higher than specified.Say at idle it was something like 320mbr but actual was 950mbr? Not sure if that make sense or if the right terms are used but in my eyes it leaking.

Yes Conan it did feel terribly slow compaired to the fozzy but the fozzys gone now :(
