  • Mine fitted straight on too - there is a specific part number you need to use. The one I sent to SNH was the right size, just the locating pegs are in the wrong place. Just snap them off with you thum

  • Thanks dude. Was a sad day seeing the mondeo go! But needs must. Happy with the Octavia so far. Handles nice and pulls well. Needs to be lower than it is tho...

  • Guess what finally arrived from Germany.... Just hope the quality of the Apex product is better than the quality of their customer service and packing skills.

Coilovers being fitted this weekend. Just dropped the wagon off!! Looking forward to seeing it done.

When are you collecting it?

  • Author

Sunday!!

Not a very happy bunny today... Went to collect car to drive it 5yrds and hear very heavy clunking coming from front suspension!! Turns out the top nuts were not torqued down!! Then after that was sorted an aighty screeching coming from behind the discs... It appears something is rubbing on discs... and one of the back plates has corroded and is now rattling! So my car sounds like a rag and bone man doing his rounds!! So I've left it with the mechanic to sort. Should of all been done for when I picked it up. So now have my wife's car for the next 2 days. Have to say it looks awesome!! Now has a nose down stance. Pics will follow next week once fixed.

Any news??

Still not sorted. Making some god awful noises. Hardly driven it for about 4 weeks now! But I have now bought a set of H&R 50mm springs. Going to take coilovers off and try springs and dampers again. Need I car I can drive with confidence.

ah sad to hear that, would have looked so good on the coilovers.

It does look good... Just sounds ****!

That's a right bummer! Are you putting the new springs on the h&r shocks? Or have you sold them?

  • Author

Sold them... Back on original shocks.

Let me know how it rides, a lot cheaper to just run springs but slightly concerned if it will knacker my shocks sooner.

Feels alright! Got one knackered rear shock... So thinking about replacing the lot with Bilstein B4 Sport dampers.

Not quite as low as the coilovers... But doesn't sound like a bag of spanners on a jalopy! A lot happier!!

Looks good only not as low as I expected it to be, maybe I need to look at coilovers.

It's weird cos it looks lower in the flesh. Wonder if it's got something to do with the stretched tyres?

Maybe it is that, ideally I want a couple of centremetres from tyre to arch. Would you say that's about the same?

Will try and get a better pic for you. Looks like maybe 2-3cm gap?

I'd really appreciate that if you don't mind mate.

Yeah I like it. Think it suits the car.

Big thanks to SNH sorting my suspension woes today. Sorry you nearly cut your hand off!! But feeling a lot better on the Bilsteins. Thanks for fixing all the bodges the last "mechanic" had done.

Just found out Simon has been to A&E to sort his hand oot! Ouch!
