Iphone Bluetooth Connection

Featured Replies

Apologies if covered elsewhere but new here, if anyone knows a previous topic that covers this a link would be appreciated as I am still finding my way around.

I have bought a 2009 Octavia and there is no Bluetooth fitted, so all the phone button does is mute the radio, the Dealer has quoted me £2.5k - £3k to retro fit, is there an upgrade for the unit without spending this amount of money and without putting up with messy, and often poor external plug in bluetooth units

Thanks in advance

Did i just read that right? £2.5-£3k?? How can they justify this price?!!

I recently bought the proper VW bluetooth module and associated wiring for just over £100, if you can spare an afternoon fitting it with reasonable mechanical knowledge you'll have no issues installing it yourself.

Still waiting to have mine coded, it's something to bear in mind when retrofitting, it will need coding with VCDS.

See here for the available modules and compatibility:

If you don't have the Columbus head unit you will need to install a microphone in the light unit and run a cable down the a-pillar. Easy job.

If fitting an RSAP unit you will also need a GSM antenna, also routed down the a-pillar.

The tidiest way is installing the module behind the dash, although the wiring is tight.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, will digest all this over the weekend, easy job or not, not sure my sausage fingers and clumsy hands are up to a DIY

im sure they are if the other option is a stupid rip off price of 10 times what it should cost

My head unit says Bolero, is this the same as a Columbus head unit?

no, its a Bolero head unit

Ok try this. I have a 2009 limited edition with bolero touch screen and when I plug my iphone into the aux in the glove box it works as a hands free phone . My girlfriend called me when I was in the car listening to music and it cut the music and played the conversation through the car speakers and it was like the Bluetooth phone set up in my old mondeo titanium x .

Sort of an obvious reply I suppose

, the Dealer has quoted me £2.5k - £3k to retro fit,

I had to re-read that.  WTF!?

I guess that 3K quote is: I don't want to be bothered with your request, so go away.

That's how it seemed to me to be honest, had the feeling I was interrupting their day
