The paint on the bumper looks very flat Dave

See 1st post Chris, was something intentional by the previous owner!

what steve said Chris.... he tried to SAND the bumper to look matt (FFS) it wont be saveable, I will need a new front bumper at some point.

speakers I bought from an MX5 specialist on ebay (who said they were from a eunos) dont fit.... lying ****** now wont refund unless I pay to return them, which would leave me massively out of pocket.... he's be arguing with me in the resolution centre, that they are correct..... look at them FFS....

they are too big, dont fit the holes and you cant get the door cards back on! I will escalate it with e-bay the bugger wont budge.....

SOOO I bought some proper ones that were actually from a eunos, and they fit...

guess what? They dont bloody work!

*sigh... gives up on speakers.

Hey - did you ever get the speakers sorted??  We've just moved house and I've found my old ones in the back of the garage boxed up.  Not sure if they work or not as they've been out of the car and in the garage for years but you are welcome to them if you want them!

yes please! the "wrong" ones worked, but didn't fit, so had to escalate case with e-bay as seller was a knob... I left him the reletave negative feedback, and he wasn't allowed to leave me negative feedback as I won the case, so he left me positive feedback with negative comments! what a ****!

the new (correct) speakers fit, but don't seem to work! (aaarrrgg! ) so yes please! If you post them to me (or are comming to the national meet, telford meet, ultimate dubs, ect ect I can take them off you) or pay you postage if you like :)

Ta!

OK no worries - I'll aim to dig them out on Sunday (won;t have the opportunity till then but I can see them at the back of the garage - just need to fight my way to them through all the boxes the removal men put in the way!) and see what the weight is and whether they are postable or not - or if I can get them to you in some way shape or form!

some more bits arriving... now ash's hair was blowing around so I needed a wind blocker, there are many sorts for the eunos, BUT in keeping with my authentisity, and making the car original, I opter for an apparently rare, ORIGINAL factor order option wind blocker!

fitted...

I also got an upper strut brace to limit the scuttle shake... but I cant fit it because I cant shift the bloody top mount bolts! gggrrrr.....

Very nice Dave. The windblockers make a massive difference, I'm surprised you've lasted this long :)

Mine came with the short fold up one that has the storage net that hangs behind the seats.

WRT to the upper strut brace, have you tried shock n unlock from halfords  as this works really well, I had to buy some to undo the bolt by the towing bracket so i could put a black grille in, the rad had been taking a bit of a beating over 12 years, so hopefully the grille should be a lot safer from debris.

no... but if Gilly cant get it off this weekend, I will nip down halfords and have a look! is it a spray , or some kinda hammer ratchet?

Spray can just under £4 for quite a large can, spray on & leave for 2-3 mins, give a 2nd spray then another couple of minsto soak & you should then get them off.

The can has instructions on as well. - Good luck.

the guy I bought it from just posted on my facebook pic "it had one on before you bought it and I took it off, they cant be that tight! three weetabix maybe.." PMSL....... I may try again tomorow!

Do you not mean  ' Can you eat 3 shredded Wheat ' ?

  • Author

I was bending the bloody ratchet set! lol..

If it's been on and off relatively recently, then surely that's just the previous owner owning up to the fact that he's over-torqued it!  :wonder:

Got the top mount fitted thanks to gillywibble..... it has really helped to reduce the "scuttle shake" looks good too, but it touching the accelerator cable and the top breather, and some wired down by the right top mount! Hope it doesn't wear these unduly....

car gets handed over to the tame mechanic tomorow for its MOT !

Bp9an.gif

:o I suppose this is the big test , is it a solid car?

gonna get it undersealed too..... given it a good thrashing in the sun today , everything works properly (except the clutch , buggin the hell out of me!) so I can't think of any problem....

and is bloody loud and raw! I'm begining to think it cant be a standard exhaust, and at least the cat must be empty! when red lining it to 7,200 in second, then changing up to third, it pops! !!!!

I will update in a few days when I get the car back!

  • Author

Had the car properly undersealed today :)

IMG_1881.jpg

And it had its first MOT with me... flew through with NO advisories! yea!

IMG_1880.jpg

Do I detect that you are feeling a wee bit more love for the Eunos than even your Fabia??

Chuffed for you on the MOT Dave, looks like you bought really well.

not really comparable Mark....

1) Eunos: RWD, Mechanical limited slip diff, hydraulic steering, normally asperated engine, NO electronics (not even ABS) , 5-speed manual gearbox, 2 seater (you sit in the middle of the car!) 50/50 weight distribution, NO noise regs (loud!)

2) vRS : FWD, electronic LSD, electric steering, twincharged engine, electronic EVERYTHING, 7-speed DSG, 5 seater estate (you sit at the front) nose heavy, quiet, refined...

  • Author

but yes, I'm happy i got a good one... still needs the clutch sorting though....

  • Author

and the NOISE! its so raw........ if you rev it over 7,000 revs then change up, the exhaust actually pops!
