Doesn't fit!

Featured Replies

Brought a k&n induction kit for the vrs off ebay was nice and cheap and it's almost new! But went to fit it today and the rubber adapter piece that goes onto the MAF is just a bit to tight think it's 66mm??

What size MAF does the vrs run???? Looks like I'll be doing some modifications to the rubber adapter to make it fit!

Lesson is don't believe the ebayers who say "will fit any 1.8t".......knew it was a gamble but it will fit soon (with some "persuasion")

Standard MAF is 2.5" which is 76mm I think

Think there is a difference between the 150bhp and 180bhp is the 76mm for 180bhp?

It does fit, as I have the same one. You need a bucket of boiling water to soak it in and a lot of patience. Took me about 30 mins trying every angle possible to slip it on.

It's also useful if you know how to swear.

On really?? That's cool! I'll have a go at work then! Take it it's 1 size fits all then? Is it a good induction kit to have?

And I can swear pretty well so I'll get there dude!

My k&n took some persuading.

76mm is just over 3 inch.

76mm is just over 3 inch.

Popping up from pedants corner, 76mm is actually just under 3".

As long as the MAF is a  VRS or any 150bhp, 180bhp 1.8t then they are the same.

And they are 2.5" which is approx 66mm. It is only the Audi TT/S3 and Seat LCR that have 76mm (3")

So yep a quick warm up of the hose and it will fit

lol. must be as the VRS MAF is only 2.5"

Sorry, got confused. At least I got the 2.5" bit right. :D I had 76mm in my mind as that was the bore of my CAI pipe which as above is 3".

My mistake I was thinking 24.5mm instead of 25.4mm.

Is it not a 63mm maf on the octy ?

The jabba kit was tight as a ducks bottom to, i had to sit the alloy tube of that in boiling water first

Yeah, 63mm or 2.5".

At least we can all agree you just need to man up and push harder!

Sorry dudes! Didn't have the chance to check on here!

Well it seems I have to try harder this weekend and lube up!! Never been a fan of that always gone dry! ;-)

Those 2.5inches must be man inches then I'll stretch it out Saturday!

This thread is not good for bedtime reading!!

It's a decent kit (makes the right noise when pressing the pedal) but make sure you've got a good cold air feed or it kind of defeats the object ;)
