4x4 Tyres

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just going to take the winters off this weekend and was looking at my old Dunlops in the garage, the two rears are down to 3mm so i might order 2 new ones to be fitted.

My questions are a) do you have to fit new tyres to the rear (like my old Freelander to save the haldex unit) or does it not matter? (nothing in the handbook about this... B) any recommendations, the Dunlop Fast Response i had fitted in Jan '13 have saw toothed on the edges c) the Hankook winter iceCept are excellent and gave me an instant 4 mpg average better fuel economy!

thanks in advance,

Elvis

If you have sawtoothing, then you need to get full 4 wheel alignment (http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/).

I don't believe it matters that much as most of the time the Haldex unit is pretty much disonnected anyway. Obviously changing four is better, but I don't think its essential.

i had them aligned last year and they seemed ok it is only minor saw toothing but still noticable...

Tyres with the best (least-worn) tread on the rear.

Tyres with the best (least-worn) tread on the rear.

thats what i would have done given the freelander had a haldex clutch as well and that was the recommendation on there.. thanks
