VRS First Service

Featured Replies

I've had my VRS Mk3 DSG Estate for 6 months and had my first service today at 9,657 miles at Sinclair Skoda Swansea. The service was £121.68 which included a wash & Hoover :) The service I received was outstanding, I had a 1.2SE Yeti courtesy car which I must admit I was really impressed with apart from the fuel consumption. When I picked the car up they mentioned that my front tyres only had 2mm of tread left, which I thought was quite poor (Continentals) considering I drive quite conservatively most of the time.

My questions are;

How much was your 1st service and what was the customer service like and;

How are your (Continentals) front tyres?

The front Conti's on my vRS CR DSG have 4½-5mm after 13½K miles.  I have been running on winter tyres for 4½K miles since I took off the Conti's in early November.  Conti's will go back on in a few days,

My first service was on variable at 2 years and 18K miles.  At a main dealer and cost £200.75p.  No loan car as I waited.  Car was thoroughly cleaned.

Conti's on my first mk2 Octi did about the same as yours. Dunlop on my second Octi almost double. Both were 1.8 tsi. Verdict Conti' are too soft.

My Sport Contact 2's were replaced with 3's yesterday at just under 12.5k.

The 2 is being phased out according to both my local dealer and pretty much every tyre company I called.

The recommended direct replacement is the 5 but apparently very soft whereas the 3 is harder wearing.

We'll see!!

I got 3 years servicing with mine & thought that was the deal going round at the time

Never been a fan contis more road noise and don't last long. All about the Michelin for me worth the extra ££

There was a thread earlier this year where a guy had quick and un even wear on his front tyres, turned out to be tracking was incorrect.

I got three years servicing free on purchase of my tsi Vrs
