Dashboard problem with picture+

Featured Replies

Hey guys...

New to having a Skoda, so still learning. Should the time and mileage (see picture below) remain like this when the ignition is off and the car is locked? It stays like this and doesn't go off at all. I'm afraid it might drain the battery, but on the other hand, I am not sure.

Also, does any one know where to start looking when the car alarm isn't working? The little led's are not flashing red to say the alarm is working and I also can't use the lock/unlock button on the remote fob so have to lock and unlock manually. Could it be linked?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

LCD should display miles and time when the key is removed.  It would takes years for that display to drain the battery :-)

If the red LED isn't flashing in the top of the drivers door trim, then I would guess maybe a faulty microswitch in one of the lock assemblies...

Oh and welcome to Briskoda :-)  I am sure that someone else will be along soon to confirm!

As above. It's when the display vanishes that you want to start worrying...

Some things to note,

The cluster should remain always on, it does not go on/off with ignition.

No MK1 Octavia ever had an alarm as standard, the flashing light in the door indicates that the deadlocks are enabled and nothing else.
