Bluetooth Kits

Featured Replies

Have just fitted a parrot ck3100 bluetooth hands free kit to a fabia vrs, what a brilliant piece of kit, dealer wanted

Lots of people seem to rate these kits.

Edit - Just had a look around as I do fancy one of these found it here for

hhhmmmmm, not convinced. i have one in my works van and have been using it for about a year and i find it annoying half the time tbh. but at the same time i have a nokia kit in my own car and find it a lot better in terms of quality and reliability.

i hope you get on better with yours than i do with mine :)

The Head unit is small, about the size of a packet of swan matches, so mounted it on the dash but on the right hand side just behind the a pillar, discreet and out of the way, the mike is above it at the top of the plastic pillar lining and the main control boxes are on top of the glove box, 5 screws and the glove box drops down with loads of space above it. It is a really good piece of kit, works well with Nokia 6230i...:thumbup::thumbup:

What phone are you using with it please?

I've got trouble with it regularly, usually it requires a proper 'turn it off & leave it' before it auto-syncs up again.

Also would be interested to know what firmware you've got on the CK3100.

It works well when it does connect to the phone though, in fairness :)

My favourite bluetooth car kit is Nokia 610 :D

pics of installation would be grand too Barleymo...

I too am interested. Is it easy to pug through the Symphony headunit?

the parrot installs very easily, my nokia kit is basically the one pictured but without the screen.

if i were to advise anyone on which kit i could only suggest the nokia kits as they are in my experience much better quality(both build and sound) and much more reliable. can be very descrete too

I have 2 nokia car kits one cark112 & the CK1W one but have neither fitted in my car

I have a CK1W - stripped out of the scooby (where it was next to useless due to how loud the car was :D ) not yet installed in the vRS.

Im looking at maybe ditching my PDA and getting a TomTom Go - the 500 and 700 feature handfree bluetooth capability with the fone too...

hmmmmm....

I was considering one of these Parrot jobs - I thought they were very popular, several on here have posted good reports and now no one really rates them

perhaps its just the unlucky ones who are being vocal ?

I have one in mine and am quite pleased with it.

Voice recognition works, but not too well at motorway speeds.

Rest of the time, it's pretty good, although to be fair, my furby isn't exactly the quietest of them all

I went for it because the bluetooth makes it easy. Just sit in car, turn on ignition and you're up and running. Only thing you have to be wary of is if you want to change your sound system to a proper seperate amp. Things get a little more complicated then if you want to do it properly ;)

I did have two units that packed up though, requiring them to be sent to Paris for reflashing. In hindsight, I suppose I ought to have bought a flashing kit so I can update them myself. There are a few bugs in the latest version which sometimes don't answer a call when it rings - you have to click the answer button a few times for the call to be routed through the mic and car speakers. I think that's a firmware issue because I never had that problem on my first one with an older firmware but it did eventually pack up :(

So I can see why people may have said they're unreliable. I can't judge the Nokia or other ones as I haven't used them.

However, all in all, I think a hundred notes isn't too bad for a flexible and integrated handsfree kit :)

Sorry i dont have any pics, but there is basically nothing to see, just the head unit, and yes it is very east to plug it into the scoda symphony unit, there is only one way that the connections will go in, it is self explanitory, site the head unit and the mic then route the cables, drop the glove box, plug into the sterio and screw everything back together and you are away.

I dont use my head unit to power my front speakers and my rear speakers are disabled (cos I dont like backfill!). Has anyone installed this system when using a n external amp? For reference, my head unit is an Alpine CDA-9853R and an alpine V12 5x75W amp.

This might make the difference between me buying the Parrot or not! or :thumbdwn:

the most annoying thing i find about the parrot is that it picks up on every noise the phone makes and switches the stereo off. every bloody button press and you lose your radio

because of that alone i tend to keep my work phone on silent.

the nokia seems a lot more sophisticated in how it works, it doesn't bother with text or any button presses only with actual calls. i don't know about the parrot as its only ever been in the van but my nokia one would pause the CD when an incoming call was recieved when connected to both my kenwood and my alpine units :D my JVC doesn't act the same sadly it just takes over one speaker and leaves everything else as it is.

it doesn't matter what amps you use as its the headunit that controls them and the car kit that interrupts the headunit so it will work exactly the same whether you use external amps or a standard unti

i'd still say get the nokia though :)

having used both for a long time i know which i would buy in the future and it will never sit on my shoulder ;)

How does the parrot kit drive the speakers then?

Does it have its own internal speaker or does it use the car speakers? If it uses the car speakers I would have a problem, because I drive my speakers from my amp via preouts from the head unit. There is no connection between my speakers and the iso connectors at the back of the head unit!

Help!!! Am confused now!!!

I have a nokia 6320, so I am willing to get the Nokia unit - but it seems alot more money. Any ideas where I can it cheap!

i also drive all my speakers from amps in my car and my nokia kit still works.

tbh i can't remember how its connected as it was over 18months ago all i know is it works and i use amps :)

My Sony Ericsson HCB-300 mutes the radio on every key press etc which annoyed me until I remembered I shouldn't even be touching my mobile phone phone when on the road anyway.

You may have just persuaded me! :)

not exactly true that, in the van i have a cradle for the phone and its perfectly legal to operate the phone within reason whilst in the fixed cradle :)

also annoying when your parked th the engine running though
