Y et another leaking sunroof.

Featured Replies

Hello guys!

My good ladies 2004 MK1 Octavia sunroof has started leaking. I've had a look and I can't for the life of me see the drain points on the sunroof. I've had a good look through the search and only found reference to the "sunroof drains diagram" but not the actual diagram.

Can anyone link me directly to it?

Thank you in advance

J

the drain holes will be in all 4 corners of the sunroof area.. or could just be badly cloged with dirt that u mught not even notice they are there under all that grime

There is a frame in the way and I'm unable to see the holes. I need to get a piccy!

Park the car on the level.  Open the sunroof.  Use a bottle of water and pour a little into each corner of the opening.  You should almost immediately get 4 puddles on the ground.  Which ever puddle is smallest/slowest is probably the drain which require attention....

Good bit of thinking :)

Hello guys,

I tried the water trick, to only find it gushing through the head liner into the cab.

I removed the internal trim around the  sunroof. It has no drains. Anything that gets beyond the seal just comes straight into the cab. I checked my L&K and that does indeed have drains and a sealed area for the water to go.

well..... was that a factory fit Sunroof, or was it installed by a previous owner? if after market it would explain the lack of drainage -

they just can opener'ed the roof and put the unit in.

That certainly would explain it! I have no idea if it was after market or not. It's a bloody tidy job if it was after market.

That isn't standard.  The standard one slides into the roof (at least on my estate).  Post some internal pictures of it & the controls.

what drew my attention to it being after market was the seal on the outside of the roof.

it didnt look right..... nor did the glass over the roof look right for a factory jobby :)
