Skoda 17" alloys on citigo?

Featured Replies

Hey peeps,

Do these look like 17" alloys to you guys and if so does anyone know the name of them. Have searched online but can't seem to find them.

Thats a posh Citigo!

Might be the down sized version from the DJ Concept, these were 18" but look identical!

Hmmmmm, they do look the same. Perhaps if I look on Skoda's Accessories website I might find them.

Ok - I can't find them anywhere!!! I give up  :wall:

The only concern is if they are 18" the UK roads will be to harsh for them. Actually I think they are 17" and the roads may still be to harsh for them!

mm... 16's would be the bigest id go, for the sake of the rims, and my spine! UK roads are better than irish....

Well perhaps some clever clogs on here can confirm the following lol:

1. The suspension setup used on the citigo (both standard and lowered variants)  are the same used on the Mii and Up!

2. The citigo sport uses the same lowered suspension as the greentech models

3. The Up! (with presumably lowered suspension) can come with 17" alloys

4. The citigo sport can come with 16" alloys

If all the above is correct, then 17" alloys on the factory lowered suspension of a greentech model (which I have) should be perfectly ok. Skoda and VW seem to think the combination of 16/17 alloys and lowered suspension is ok for UK roads?

You will need 195/40 for 17" wheels, pretty uncomfortable I would think!.

If the profile on the 17 wheels is 40, what would you put on the 18's? Or is much stiffer suspension needed?

Im surprised you can get 18's on these cars tbh, iv heard its a very tight fit on a fabia

35's

Numb bum and a flat sided alloy kind of profile then? ;)

35 mm = not so much a tyre as a rubber veneer sprayed onto the rim methinks....

35s or rubberbands........ perhaps cycling short to curb numb bum.

All so the car looks abit better from the outside? Not worth it for me...

Crikey. Im only 21. The way i sound sometimes, i should be collecting my pension each thursday

my work place has a max time limit on using the packing tools of 8minutes, then 8 min break to avoid risk of "White Knuckle Syndrome" from the vibration. With 18 / 35s ....... id say the time limit on most roads i drive in ROI would be half that before the steering would have you hospitalised...

I dno. About the exact extent of your disabilities after driving it short term. However, my best mate drives a civic with cheap coilovers (set really low of course) and really low profile tyres, and i cam tell you thst theres no doubt about it. Hes mentally unstable.

I blame the car

Although you could argue he must of been mentally unstable to buy it in the first place. Hmm.

Ill stick with my 55 profile. Best to avoid the risk

You're close my friend.........on the VW UP! The 17" wheels come with 215/40 + the lowered suspension setup found on the likes of the citigo sport and greentech models. By my calculations, that gives an extra 8mm of tyre height than your suggestion. May not sound alot but it is.

As I said in my previous post. The idea of having a Up!, Mii or Citigo on a set of 17" wheels is not stupid. VW sell them as a standard option. They wouldn't do that if it compromised the otherwise good comfort levels of the ride too much!

Hey dude,

You can't get 18" wheels as a standard option on these cars. 17" is the biggest on offer atm and only VW do it :-)

The correct tyre fitment for their 17" Polygon alloys that come as an optional extra on the Up! is 215/40. This means a tyre tread width of 215mm and a tyre profile of 40% (of the 215mm width) equaling a tyre wall height of 86mm

35 Profile isn't too bad, I've got them on my Superb. However I guess the shocks take a lot of the hammering! :)

I drive every day on 18's running a 40 profile on my vRS, I do not see the fuss, harsh? No.

Just enjoy the firmer more precise ride, so much roll on big tyres for me ;)

i have 17s on my green tech there are some photos on here look at candy white march arrival in citigo project journal

35 does not mean 35mm, it means 35%
