Stereo locked to Audio menu

Got an aftermarket ANS620 navi HU in fitted my cr170 a good while back and later a Maxidot retrofitted, too.

 

When going from the MFD to the Audio menu, the Maxidot completely locks itself to said menu, and cannot be changed without either fuse removal, or battery disconnection. I'm pretty sure this isn't normal, and no amount/combination of button presses unlocks it.

 

Thought I read certain Colombus units exhibited similar actions, but these were cured by turning the HU off and a subsequent firmware update, or something.

 

With no such update available for my HU that i know of, Is it something to do with canbus gateway (I have no idea what that is)?

 

Any ideas? These VAG electrics are completely unfamiliar to me.

Fitting a Polar FIS+ cures this problem with the Columbus.

For the Columbus there is also a fix that can be installed. Just updated to 5270 and installed the software fix and all working.

I still want a Polar Fis+ as I believe it can also get PDC displayed on the Columbus again without needing to fit OPS.

Hmm, whilst trawling an AUS VW forum, which seems to have a lot of information about these units, there seems to be a hidden menu with various CANBUS options.

 

Listed are: CAN-S, CAN-V, CAN-X and CAN-M (which is the current selected option).

 

With previous VCDS scans, I've always had the following CAN gateway error listed (since the HU was fitted). Could this be due to the wrong CAN setting in the HU?
